Title: Are there any more 'U' turns left....?? Politics
Post by: Vamps on 08 June 2011, 22:17:09
I am not into politics particularly but I gather we have another 'U' turn over prison sentences today and whatever his happening with the NHS means I do not have to move out of my office this summer as recently planned due to cut backs............ :y

Are there any original policies still in place?.....I would laugh if it was not such a worry..... ::) ::)

And now we face the, expected, results of the Thatcher years when they wanted to privatise residential care provision......, costs far more to use private homes than it would be to run council owned ones, and the same with private children's homes and private foster carers.......... :( :( :(

Rant over, sorry....

The problem is that the NHS is a gargantuan, bloated, cash-guzzler...but, it represents a caring society that wants free care for all. The nettle to grasp is the dichotomy that, on the on hand, the NHS would be a massive fail as a commercial organisation as it it is montrously inefficient and top-heavy with administration but, on the other, no entrepreneur would touch it without the prospect of making a profit, since that is what they do when they take a project on.

What the NHS needs is a root-and-branch overhaul but, with so many vested interests in healthcare management, it is nigh-on impossible to implement.

The only way to achieve a new NHS is to instill commercial commonsense without the profit motive. To instill a belief that patients should be treated in the best and most economically-efficient manner. It won't happen, though, as it is a gargantuan, bloated, cash-guzzler.

Those on the gravy-train will never let it happen.

No wonder, then, that no-one wants to grasp the nettle and the NHS will roll-on as the 4th largest employer in the world, gratuitously showing how money can be wasted on an astronomic scale... :(

Amazing the way this is being reported by our "so called" unbiased media ... :(

As far as my knowledge of the English language is ... the word "consultation" means to listen to other peoples opinions, to take them into consideration,  and to then change plans to suit the results of such activities.

So, how does responding to a consultation suddenly become a "U turn" ??

If the decisions had been made WITHOUT CONSULTATION and where then reversed .. yup .. a U turn ... but the whole basis of these "ideas" have been to  have such consultations ...

but that wouldn't allow out loverly, unbiased, media to have a go and make up a story would it ???

:(

Never let the truth get in the way of a good headline.

you're right, the media wouldn't have suggested Gordon Brown ever made a U-turn  :y

the tories are playing everyone here, having their cake and eating it, trouble for Cameron is that hes beginning to look weak in the face of mild criticism......witness his climb down on Ken Clarkes rather sensible sentence reduction policy because of one interview.

hes pulling the wool over everyones eyes by announcing policies, then when the public go nuts (NHS, woodland, etc) they come out with this "oh...did we say policy? no no, its merely a consultation exercise....we werent really going to do this you know - we agree, its a terrible idea, we're just letting you see what a bad idea it is, ha ha, ahem....................the last lot left a right old mess didn't they? dearie me............."  ;D

if i was a cabinet minister i'd be rather reluctant to announce any new policies as DC seems to be flapping in the wind of public opinion like a carrier bag stuck on a fence  ;)

I'd be lying if I said I thought its beginning to look like DC only cares about how he looks.....I'd be lying because I've always thought that  :o

Too much ground covered for me to make individual comment!

I see that the first MP sentenced to prison over the expenses was released after serving a quarter of his sentence. WHAT IS THE POINT.

Oh and the NHS is a badly run goliath but Southern Cross (privately run) is nowt to write home about either.

Never mind we (with our great allies the French -who?) are now shaping up to sort Syria out now that we have sorted Libya and Afghanistan out. Come on the red, white and blues and white and blues. Lets get em. ;D ;D ;D
