Because you haven't shopped around ;) ;), although insurance did rise in general by about 20% this year IIRC :-/

Yet. But I will LD. I always do. I don't wish to pay more than £200. Esure tell me that they no longer price match.

Me too... But I, like your good self, am a little younger that Opti and can only dream of sub £200 insurance premiums without a ridiculous excess ::) ::)

You live in an affluent part of the country Aaron. The insurance companies know this. They can get away with adding an extra 60% to the premiums of the wealthy people of Berkshire..... :D :D :D ;)

I was quoted £590 from my (now ex) insurer. Went on the direct line website and got it for £325. I would try direct line, they are not on comparison websites and you have nothing to lose except 10 minutes.

Is it a freephone number Mr Steve?.....I'm not a Scot.....but...... ::) ::) ;)
-
I just tried direct line........ £673 WTF. :( :(
I have been driving for 40 years, full no claims, under 8k miles a year, no named drivers, and no previous claims, however 2 SP30's one from Dec 2007, and the other from July 2008. I also wanted £150 excess, and protected no claims.
How come some of you are sub £300?
-
jesus Opti - thats cheap I'm £500 with admiral with full ncd and for a rather 406 diesel :o :o
and i happen to know our postcode is one of the safest in the country :-?
i shopped around and every quote was around £500 by the time you'd added all the bits and bobs, like breakdown etc :(
-
They're all at it.
My Omega Insurance quote went up by 19.7% this year so I called them and spoke to a young girl who told me that that was the best they could do as " been a bad year, lots of claims ,terrible weather etc etc, " so I told her after 6 years with them and never a claim and proof positive of another 17 years prior to that I'd be making it a matter of principle to move my car ,my wifes car , my van and our house insurance from them even if it cost me more with another company.I thanked her and put the phone down .
Less than 10 mins later I got a call saying they would hold my premium at the same as last year.
Shower of blaggards .............

I was with e-sure a few years ago, paid £460 full comp, 20 years proof e.t.c the next year they wanted £595. when asked why, they said all policies had risen that year, but not by 25%+ I said. I finally used my advanced driving test pass and got better cover with only £100 excess for £305 with breakdown included.

Direct Line took mine from £350 upto £870 to renew... I told them to break off!!! I found LV to be about the cheapest (but they wouldn't take monthly payments) and as such I actually insured through Kwik-Fit and got it for about £385...
-
i am with direct line they are a rip off £399 with full no claims bonus and £250 exsess got to look somewere else
-
I think the reason that I got such a good deal with direct line is because I'm so handsome. Ugly b'stards, like a few on here, must expect to pay more.

No point me giving them a bell then. I'm irretrievably ugly... :'( :'(
-
I always shop around and you'd be suprised at how much you can get knocked off for just asking.
Get a good quote off someone, ring your insurer back and tell the the other quote (but knock a bit off it for your admin :y) and more often than not they'' match or better it.

I had my home and contents with a certain bank for a long time and didn't really notice how much it had increased. Rang round a few insurers and got exactly the same cover for 70% less.
Rang the bank back and they instantly reduced their premium to 50% of the renewal, still not good enough so told 'em to stuff it.
They all rely on us being lazy >:(
