Still havent decided on my new tv - I posted for advice a few weeks ago... :-/
But i have narrowed it down to one of the two on the link below. Both Samsung - both 46"

I would go for the one with intergrated freeview, but still, both good Tvs.

1080 is good, and its 'HD Ready'
I like Samsung too, got a Samsung TFT here. I think all Samsung TV stuff has a great warrenty... with my monitor is was "one dead or hot pixel and the monitor will be exchanged" - My dad also has one, it developed some hot pixels, they swapped it out directly, no probs. So I recommend Samsung :y
Avoid anything badged 'HD Compatible' that just means the TV can read HD but converts it to SD...
Lots of HDMI connectors which is what i like to see, depends if you need the freeview box or not. Must admit it would be nice to have it integrated rather than an extra ugly box.
1920x1080 is true HD and the one to go for.... make sure a TV can support it. The term HD actually encompasses a number or resolutions, 720, 1080i, 1080p...
Don't expect an explosion in HD channels just yet, broadcasting HD is still extremely expensive due to bandwidth issues.

Tunnie, my phillips is HD ready, I often wonder, should I have kept some of the money in my pocket as I dont think the HD will be around for a few years yet, IMHO

One of my modules this year at uni was all on Broadcasting, the teacher (who was very good explained all about HD) I have since forgot most of it. But the problems were in broadcasting the HD signal, it is very, very expensive. Hence only a few programs are shown.
HD computer games, and DVD's / Blueray will take off. But your right HD TV as a main stream is a long way off....

Having worked at Samsungs head office in Chertsey many times. I would recommend Samsung Electrical gear very much..I have set up Samsung 63" Plasmas at their head office. Replaced the LCD"s at Heathrow and i am currently running one of their freeview boxes, great gear.. :y

I would have the 2nd one. Better contrast ratio, better connectivity, picture in picture and built in freeview :y

The bottom one is better equipped, also the panels are a shared product with Sony so they are known good products*, I am pretty sure they are the same as fitted to the W and X TVs which are award winners.
Not Samsung, not Sony but a jointly owned production fascillity.
Integrated Freeview is better and 3 HDMI - easy to fill with a PS3, a HD sat receiver and possibly a HDDVD player (even though they cost more than a PS3) - but then a PS3 is a good Bluray player, so if you don't want any of the small amount of HDDVD not available on BR you only need 2 HDMI

thanks folks...im going to go for the second one, i had a hunch that was best.
What was making me sway was the first one having a higher RRP from same manufacturer and it listed blue ray...
Now need to find a decent stand and errr tell her indoors... :P
