 ;D ;D ;D ;D  :y

Thinking about it, I've been using a lot less, in fact only big burners I have is the washing machine and dish washer, they get used once a week each on average. TV/Media PC gets fair bit of use but thats about it.

Here, we tend to pay the same amount every month (optional, but usually cheaper)

So in the winter we owe the companies money, spring and autumn about right, in the summer they owe us.

All balances out in the end.

I pay about £120 combined electric and gas per month.

I average about the same here - £100/mo for combined gas & electric.. it's a bit more in winter, less in summer as the gas isn't heating the house and the lights are on a little less (not that much, though, given the hours I'm at home)

Would help if the house had anything even remotely passing for insulation, I imagine  ;D

Is it just me, or does anyone else follow the wife and kid round turning lights off? :(

Oh..and SWMBO , when running a bath, turns on the hot tap and breaks off, then comes back and tops up with cold, invariable having to let about 10 gallons of hot water out first. >:( She was brought up in a working mens club where the brewery paid for everything.

in winter, coldest months say january, february I pay about 70-80 £ .. nov 40, dec 40-50, march 50-60.. other months 10-20£..

but if I add water, electricity I pay 160-170 £ highest..

but thats enough to make a hole in my budget ;D

i pay about £30 a month and in a lot of time, dont have gas here so its oil, which goes up and down a lot, only use it for hot water at summer so if i was settled and not looking at selling i might get some solar water heater thingys and biomass boiler.

About 5 years ago, I fit £100 a month.  That was the final straw, so out went all the nice light bulbs, replaced with those stupid bent energy ones. Out went all my P4 PCs, replaced with Core based ones. Religiously turn everything off when not in use now. Replaced the old power hungry server that ran OOF at the time to a lower powered one.

Even though energy has gone up, I've managed to keep below £100

IIRC, you have E-7?

I suspect for you, thats probably costing you dearly, even if you do set the appliances for nighttime (though every time I see you, the dryer is on during the day ;D).

E-7 only realy works out if you heat electric.

To show the progress of technology, the new server going in soon (hopefully before the Lakes) is the first replacement (this will be the 4th its run on long term) since OOF has been running here that actually has a larger power requirement for the CPU, going from a dual core Xeon to a quad core Xeon.  Although I'm secretly hoping, with newer components, it will actually overall use less power (as everything won't be pinned at 100% all the time ;D), but impossible to say until its all loaded up.

I would second that!  I just rang my supplier to switch to the latest tarriff and was asked what my heating was, when I said Gas CH - I was told i was wasting money having E-7 and promptly got a date booked for the meter to be changed.

I should have twigged before when I was comparing tarrifs and the E-7 usage ratio was suggested to be 55% national average, I looked at my bills and my average was around 8%  :o

Hopefully mine will come down from its current £162 pm!  but i doubt it, my house generally acts as a bloody lighthouse and it's like Bermuda all year round!  >:(

according to the n-power box thing i use 8kwh's per day. dont know how good they are tho.
tend to only have lights on in room im using, outside lights are energy saver jobbehs (cant see hand infront face otherwise)
washing machine uses a lot, halogen oven is pretty good at saving electric, and most the inside lights are downlighters or leds. havnt worked out if its cheaper to use the electric water heater or the oil boiler to heat water, only need it on a hour a day.
when i move,i really want a project, either a renovation of a old cottage with some land or a new build, i want to try be a little more eco and self sufficent. make up for my very own hole in the ozone layer lol

Mine current reads 19, and nothing has been switched on in the last day, as we were out last night, and I've been out most of the morning....

I keep thinking about changing my 25+yr old fridge and 25+year old freezer to an A rated combined fridge freezer.....i wonder how much that would save on the leccy bill......which isnt much really.....£55 month combined (recently changed from Southern Electric to Coop Energy.....saving an instant £35/year on gas standing charge + the unit price was slightly lower as well)

I'm on E7 and, as has been said, I was wasting money. So I bought a timer and put it on the immersion heater. 2hrs in the middle of the night and we have hot water all day.
