Title: Al-ko indi trailer hub torque
Post by: Varche on 04 July 2011, 18:46:39
Anyone know what the torque is for Alko wheel bearings on a trailer please?. It is a 1000 kilo axle with the indi suspension arms with standard taper wheel bearings (large inner, small outer).

have searched the web unsuccessfully.

if they are taper bearing then its "just a nip" once they are home.

When my old trailer had tapered bearings, my Dad used to do the following...
Tighten  nut until hand tight, then back off until you could get the split pin into the hole through the nearest castellation.. check that the hub then moved freely but without any side play.

Have always done tapered bearings this way... (use a new split pin though)

Hope this helps. :y

That was the way I used to do it. It split pin here. You get a nut and a split and have to "deform" the nut into the split. Not very sophisticated but it has held fine for 6 years of abuse. :y
