Oh dear..... :( :( :(
-
I'm no expert, but I reckon it'll need more than just a lick of paint.

Never mind the paint....I would be more worried about if I still had a job and was I going to get paid... :( :(
I am lucky, whatever happened to the workplace I would be OK, not sure about you :(

Been there over 13 years. Pretty sure staff wages are covered by the insurance, and I can work from home with a lot of what I do (or did :-/).
We own units opposite and have started sorting temporary offices and maybe even a retail outlet of sorts.
Now it's starting to hit home. Pretty upset about our fish. :'(
Mark the owner is well into his pets and animals of all sorts. We had four seriously big tanks in the offices with 1000's of £'s worth of all sorts of tropicals and marine. I know most folk think they're just fish, but in the last five years I've been tending them I found they all had their own mannerisims.

I can relate to that. :(
I have a tropical fish tank and would hate to lose it...and, yes, fish do have their own mannerisms.

With 2 big fires in the Swansea area recently it makes me wonder if there is someone with arsonistic tendencies. (not suggesting its related to anyone at the companies)
At least your boss has the insurance to continue paying the staff, I don't think it will be long before the place is back up and running and you can start finding out the new characters in the fish tanks ;)
-
Getting in today may prove a little tricky :'(
-
Hope your job is safe fella, thats the main thing. Good luck. :y
-
Ahh pop parts on eBay "untested" ;D :y
-
Sorry to hear about your work Turk, on the plus side (if there is one!) the poor fish would have died very rapidly from temperature stress if anywhere near the fire :(
-
My son was supposed to go down there today to pick up some gloves, but I don,t think he will bother them about that now.
-
South Wales does seem to have an arson problem; it seems every summer there`s quite a few grass/forest/building fires (more oft`than not) said to be started deliberately. >:(
-
Cheers Phil, yes the fish would have been near the fire. There is nothing untouched inside. The place was a brick and metal box. Inside would have been like an oven.
The fire investigators have been and when I left at about half six this evening it was being boarded up.
Building has been condemned.
We've sorted temporary offices in a building opposite and a shop is being set up in one of the units behind, using the stand we use for shows like the NEC etc. Fortunately the show equipment is kept in an articulated trailer in the car park and not in the warehouse.

Thats really sad Turk :'(
Just glad all of you that worked there, were not at work when it happened and that your all safe!
I only lived round the corner until last year, and loved the place. Bought my first new bike there back in '06 and was well looked after by all that worked there!!
Hope to see you all back up and running as soon as :y
-
Looks like youve done well....

Back to work for you then Turk :y

I find that excellent that the bosses respond so quickly and get on with it, respect to them, good job i say (although i'm sure they'll be arguing insurance for years to come) responsible healthy company, you are a lucky man Turk!

It's been a frantic week, but we got there. :y
Pretty much everything from making goods-in and despatch benches and fitting out the warehouses, to setting up the computer, phone and invoicing system has been done by the staff.
We managed to locate and recover the contents of the three fire proof safes, which were the only things to survive inside the building.
Things like thirty years of bike data, the computer system back-up tapes, that Saturdays shop takings...and the deeds to the owners house ! ;D
The fire investigators said temperature at some points was in excess of 1100 deg C.
Whilst searching for the safe that contained the bike data I took this video inside the outer walls.

Well, another three hours or so and I'll be off to bed. Currently doing my bit on the 'Zombie Shift' security at work.
One good thing about this p*ss poor weather is that the robbing b*st*rds don't like getting wet, so its been a quiet night. Although I'm getting a bit hacked off with the heavens opening each time I set off on my rounds. I'll be glad when the security system is fully installed and I can get back to nine til six.
