Title: Not happy
Post by: rob in gib on 06 July 2011, 19:39:46
Some bloody Spanish idiot decided to drive into the back of the mig today
the wife was at the wheel stationary in the border queue
when this idiot in his Audi decides to re arrange the back end
Then decides as the wife cannot speak Spanish to try and fob her off with no details
So after a call to me and being told to involve police, it turns out that he has not got insurance docs with him (almost as bad as not having insurance)
So police arrest him and cart him off to hold him untill they can asertain if he has cover and for details
So we now are waiting to hear back from police

Another new rear bumper required, this ones less than 2 years old
So not happy bunny  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Yep, and it could have turned out worse, maybe he'll have insurance as well!

I was not aware you needed Insurance Documents with you in Gibraltar.

I've hired cars in Spain thrice and entered Gib without Insurance Docs.

Next time, I'll be sure to take my own insurance docs with me.

As with driving any vehicle abroad because they are unable to give you a producer.
anybody driving in Spain has to have all paperwork with them or face the vehicle being towed away instantly :(

The wife is fine so yes not too bad on the scale of things  :y

Good to know your wife is OK.

Just for info, since Jan 2010 you no longer have to carry documents in the car. Now they have centralised the road tax (the last thing to get moved to Madrid) all details are available to the Guardia Civil Trafico at the push of a button!
However, I'm not altogether sure whether Franco's bullies have taken that on board...... So even though you don't need the paperwork, it is advisable to (still) carry it with you.....

That may be why the hombre might not have been carrying.

Be nice to think that he is a legal idiot rather than an illegal idiot....
