Hi all you tech guys and girls
Is there a simple way of transfering large amount of data between my PC and laptop
need to move things like work files and photos but only have a 512mb memory stick

Network the two of them?
Get a USB ext HDD and copy from one to that, then that to t'other?
Burn a CD/DVD and read it on the other one?

Thanks for the offer Cleggy but will be cheaper to buy here and would not take 3-4 weeks to arrive :y

Buy a bigger stick!

Play do 16G ones for around £15 delivered (to UK)

+1 for the above, crossover cable shouldn't be more than a quid.
Even if one (or both) machines are limited with 100Mbit NIC's, you can still shift 10MB per second.

Easy way bigger portable storage device (USB Stick, USB Hard Drive)...

Slightly less easy, Network/Xfer cable...  Try looking in Network on your Windows menu you may see your laptop...

This is probably the cheapest option, i.e. no cost assuming you have wireless internet.

Networking is the easiest no cost option for many of us.  Given the OP's question, and the implication that he is not as good as some of us with PCs, I'm wondering if a small USB HDD is a better option...
