Phoned to increase my breakdown cover for Europe earlier today and they told me that they couldn't cover my car for Europe mianland driving as the car, a X 2000 was "too old".  Swiftly canceled the UK cover also and have gone elsewhere...Too old..my ar$e.

TBH, I just took out independent European cover last September... Was about £23 for 14 days with full repatriation (up to value of vehicle) and 1hr labour on any call out, plus discounted parts :y

Can't remember who it was but googled for it... Fairly sure it was underwritten by AXA :-/

I WAS paying about £87.00 for UK only with Bell, I have my insurance with them also...Insurance comes in at about £320 including Business use...but told them to stick the breakdown cover...if they won't cover her for mainland europe, then the cover was no good for me. The refund will cover the new policy strangely enough.   :y :y

Now with some company arranged by a broker. £59.99 for UK and Europe entirly for a year no matter how many trips across the sea to pick up grog !

Do check the small print as few companies cover any vehicle over 10 years old.
And be very carefull of that "repatriation up to the value of the vehicle"
What is a 12 year old Omega worth ?

Sorry to be a wet blanket.

I had Europe cover with Churchill on an 8 year old vehicle, just renewed each year until it was 11+ years old.  Discovered the policy covered up to 10 years old only,  and I'd been wasting my cash.

When challenged they pointed out that they had written to me each year asking me to read the policy and confirm that it met my requirements before renewing.

You can't win!   >:(
