Title: Caravan toilet paper
Post by: geoffr70 on 16 July 2011, 12:08:00
Hello peeps! Does anyone know what they mean by soft toilet paper for 'vans? Is if so that if can be broken down by the blue stuff and not clog your bog when disposing if it? If that's the case, will normal bog paper not be suitable?

Where do you empty your cassette and grey water on a site? Thanks peeps

Usually a hole around the back of the toilet block marked 'chemical waste' to empty the cassette.

Don't stand in any puddles close to afformentioned hole.  ::)

Decent household bog roll can be a nightmare to empty out of the cassette. >:(

Either get the correct roll from caravan/camping stores (can be comparatively expensive), or use the cheapo 'Happy Shopper' stuff. ;D ;D :y :y

Having to empty your own shite from a plastic box, would not be on my "to-do" list during a holiday!

Hahaha! I've never been scared of the unpleasant things in life that normally aren't mentioned! It's my shit, so I'll empty it!

Caravans are brilliant, they're like little houses you can take anywhere! That's amazing! It's a step up actually! I'm used to my sleeping bag in the snow, although I couldn't sleep because of the excitement of it all!

Caravans rule ok!  :P

Really? I can stand up fully in my house flat, I can't do that in a caravan.

I also don't have to duck to go into the bog, or leave.

Also have to say, my hallway is bigger than any caravan!  ;D

Only in the centre, you would be able to stand upright anywhere in my caravan ;)

That would be a struggle - 6ft5 and caravans don't go well  :)

That stuff had two different sides, one side was rough and was like wiping your arse with a house brick and the smooth side just spread it all up your back! :o The only two things it was good for was tracing paper and wrapping it round a comb to make a cazoo type musical instument.
Back on the subject of happy shopper bog roll for health and safety reasons you have to use about twenty sheets folded over to prevent "break through" so it's false economy  :-?

I remember Izal from school, but, as for its original use I don't know - but, if you wanted something that was totally non-absorbent, had teflon like properties and was good at spreading sticky stuff around I suppose it would be ideal! :-/ The nearest equivalent I can think of is grease proof paper.  ;D

No no no, that completely defeats the object. In a caravan you are

A:- on site, hence home from home.
B:- eat what you like when you like.
C:- you don't have to put it up when you get there or take it down when leaving.
D:- most stuff like tinned food, cup a soups, crockery/cutlery kettle, toaster can stay there, saves packing & unpacking.
E:- toilet/shower/washing facilties are en suite.
F:-stove/oven/fridge are once again fitted as are gas bottles. No need to pack/unpack/store in between meets.
G:- built in music/telly/CD storage etc.

We'll never resolve this old chestnut but i've actually tried both (unlike most van haters) & one mans meat...etc. so fair go. :y

you could just rent a cottage or apartment... lol
I will try it one day tho!
I dont ever see myself selling my boat for a caravan tbh

oh and with a boat, no worries about what toilet roll to use or empty a casset thingy, it goes straight out the bottom of the boat! lol  ;D
