As mentioned a few weeks back....
I have now officially been made redundant.
I leave Lloyds Banking Group on the 31st October, with 16 years service to the day!
Not all served with them...
I was given my job by :
Northwest Securities
who changed their name to :
NWS Bank
who changed their name to :
Capital Bank
Who was then brought into the parent company of :
Bank Of Scotland
who sold me to :
IBM
who sold me back to
HBOS
who merged with
Lloyds Banking Group.
16 Years, 7 Companies, 1 Desk ;D
Sad that I am glad to be leaving.
Here's to the future!
-
not good news jim within the climate at the moment, hope you find something to go into by then. would imagine you should get a decent pay off or does it not count as not being with the same company?.
-
Sorry to hear that Jimbob, have you got anything else lined up?
-
the amount of companies actually goes in my favour as I was temporary for the 1st few years, that wouldnt count if it was all one company, but thanks to tupe my start date is the 1st day I started.
Luckily its a generous package and well over the statutory minimum.
Weighing up future options, but have a few ideas.
-
Not nice, but all the best for the future :y

thats good news for you. have some time out & enjoy mate. :y
-
aye, they are offloading at least 45000 over the last / next year so have to make it attractive to hit their figures.
alternative is apply for my own job and commute 2800 miles a month!
erm, no thanks.

not nice news, but not the end of the world..
and monthly 2800 miles commute is a real risk from my previous job experiences.. imo, if you are not forced to, stay away..
I'm sure you will find another , so keep your heart positive.. good luck Jimbob :y
-
I hope that everything works out for the best Jimbob. :y
-
It won't hit you until the first day you don't go in.
You will then feel betrayed, even if you volunteered for redundancy and go through a grieving process that can be quite deep.
You will come out the other side.
Advise those close to you at home to be prepared.
All the best.
-
Hope something more interesting comes up soon, Jimbob. :y
-
sorry to hear you have lost your job and good luck finding another quickly. :y
-
At least the package is decent... Better than you expected? ::)
I may well be going down the lines of medical severance in the next 6 weeks or so, if I can't get medical redeployment within the company, which isn't a particularly attractive thought :( Although at least they will give me a pay off, albeit nothing very spectacular :y
-
"as old doors close, new doors open"
Although I seem to recall your (work) skills are somewhat specialised?
-
Like we were discussing at the Lakes meet maybe it's time to "go it on your own" good luck to you which ever direction you choose :y
-
Thanks all,
yes, my current role is a bit on the specialist side - not a job offered anywhere in europe doing what I do...only a few UK companies even have the role.
Starting up on my own, in something else is a distinct possibility.

I'm prepared for all of the above and under no illusion that it'll be a walk in the park, thanks for the heads up. :( :y
-
Sorry to hear your news Jimbob.Your obviously a pretty clever fella, so Im sure you will do ok again before too long. :y
-
Ditto........Good Luck....... :y :y
-
Thats tough JB .. :(
As you floated the possibility earlier, my guess is you've already been doing research... here's hoping you find what you want sooner than later :y :y :y

Goodluck Jimbob. If nothing turns up you could always come here. Got acres of tiling to do. No pay, bean and chorizo stew, beer and a bed under the stars. Early start may be a problem but you knock off at 4 for a swim and a siesta :y
-
do you need a security guard varche???? i can sleep on the job with the best of spain has to offer.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Well good luck JimBob, I finish up on 31st August, but then I took the voluntary severance offer, have been applying for jobs and been shortlisted for all three so far, first one entailed a four hour test, which I apparantley failed, and still await their feedback :-X, sat interview on Monday, unsuccessful, and had another interview yesterday, which I wait to hear about, and have another couple of aplications submitted :y
-
You told me at the Lakes meet you were expecting this but still sorry to hear it James. :( Now let me think.....what could you spend some of your redundancy money on? ::) :-X

Tempting....Very tempting.
If only I had a passport!
-
Thanks for all the good wishes.
Under no illusion that its a worrying time.
Really am looking at it positively, ready for some sort of change.
Hoping things will turn out for the best in times to come.
-
Try not to let it get to you too much. I was made redundant about 6 yrs ago after 15 years making sweets. It's a body blow initially, but something else will turn up. :y
Good luck :y

just remember every cloud has a sliver lining
have always found that something will turn up & most times its for the better,
things are on the turn we are now looking to take on extra staff after having redundancies 18 months ago and this is in the engineering business so the rest will follow :y
