Title: Holiday areas considering options
Post by: Martin_1962 on 03 August 2011, 15:12:12
Cornwall back garden is fully booked and a bit far. :(

Actually we were supposed to be there this week. :'( :'(

What is Purbeck like at the moment - last went 5 years ago?

Also anyone done Ilfracombe Woolacombe recently?

Martin

It's a long way at 50MPH towing a large tupperware box, though. ;)

We went to Summer Valley near Truro this year. http://www.summervalley.co.uk/. Nice peaceful little site. Would certainly go back there. :y

Another disadvantage to plastic boxes  ::)

Camping wise, I really like Beddgelert in Wales.

Took bike there, fantastic area. Sure there are burger van parking places...

Depends what you want Martin, Woolacombe is really nice (was there 2 weeks ago) and has a huge beach which is very popular with surfers. It's an ideal family resort with plenty to keep the kids occupied, plenty of decent cafe's and restaurants and a couple of very good pub/restaurants. If you want something a bit quieter and scenic, try Lynemouth - beautiful place and quite close to Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. :y

Had 3 replies from that area - 1 site 50 a night, another blocks reviews, the last was a big site like a holiday camp :o

The beach was nice but easy to lose someone, the Red Barn was nice when we last went

Try Damage Barton site-just outside Woolacombe and Ilfracombe.
Stayed there a while back-stunning views and a few nice walks.

Costa del Skegness  :y

( Don't knock it till you've tried the place.)

Go back 3 or 4 times a year and love it round there.
Only 90 mins ish from the Norfolk Broads too

And pretty cheap too  :y

18 quid a night for van / awning / electrics  :y

How can towing a Burger van, then spending all week in cramped, dindgy hellhole, having to empty you poos out ever be classed as a holiday  :-/

Pretty certain everytime I've been to France in the last 20yrs or so, it's been 90kph on the toll roads, so about 56mph
