Finally after 18 months, my youngest son Tim has finally got his admission date to enter the RAF:y It's been a really long process (nearly 2 years!) and some gruelling tests. He had passed all the tests last year but due to a hip ligament injury he was unable to go in as planned. When he was declared fit again he was told he would have to do the horrendously difficult 4 day assessment course at RAF Honnington again (extremely physical) and he failed on one excercise despite having passed it the first time. He then had to do it again for the 3rd time a couple of months ago and passed with flying colours. Finally got his official acceptance letter on Saturday and goes to RAF Honnington on 19th September for his 9 months basic training. He's already been told he's likely to be flown out to Afghanistan following this for a tour of duty which is a little worrying, but I'm very proud of the lad. :y :y :y

Great stuff Bob, what is he going to specialise in?

He actually going in as an RAF Regiment gunner which is the RAF's defence arm. Very tough and difficult to get into (a lot of the SAS start off in RAF Regiment).

Well done it's come through in the end !
Have to agree with Guffer with the wrong service arm ;)
I think the hot spot may well be preferable to Tottenham
