I have just been trawling around some insurance companies getting a feel for costs to insure a 3.0 / 3.2 elite as I am looking to get one if/when I get some money together.
First place I went was my current insurer (Hastings Direct) and was very surprised at the results. I got two quotes from them for a 3.2 estate:
1: Insured myself, SDP only, Fully comp, 7 years no claims with up to 10k annual mileage which came out at £1000 a year give or take a bit.
2: Exactly the same details as above but put SWMBO on the policy as an infrequent driver and the cost dropped to £460 a year! :o
Thats a massive drop just for putting my wife on the policy. What surprised me as much, if not more, is that is almost exactly what I am currently paying with them for my 2.0 CDX ::)
I am sure half these companies just have random number generators on the back end of their websites.

Oops, clicked quote instead of modify :D

That is normal for a spouse to dramatically lower the premium :
I pay iro £600 for th 03 Elite, 98 MV6 and 00 Rover, all with full NCD. When seperated out, the Elite is the most expensive at £250, with the other 2 at around £175 each.

Yea, ive always noticed a difference just not that much of one in the past. It makes a v6 an even more viable option, if only I had the money to actually buy one :(
