Title: Ebay advice, car for spares or repair
Post by: omegod on 02 March 2009, 18:36:51
Howdy,

I'm putting a car (skoda  ;D) on fleabay for spares or repairs either as a whole or I will break it if there is enough interest but am confused by the fee system. I have seen people advertising a wheel nut etc so any advice about the cheapest way of putting it on is greatly welcome.

Feel free to start the skoda p*ss taking now !!!

Advertise a wheel nut at 99p and leave a message to e-mail you for any specific parts

Pop it on an auction style  10 day listing with a contact telephone number in the text and invite people round to inspect the car before they bid - then when they turn up you do a deal there and then and then pull the listing off ebay - that way you pay the listing fee of £12 and avoid paying the final valuation which is the real sucker punch.

I have sold a few cars/boats/jetski's on ebay over the years - and most of them have been sold this way but i hasten to add this wasn't the intention when i listed them it's just the way it seems pan out.

Hope that helps  :y

Although I find the seats in MIL's Skoda Octavia (2001) too uncomfortable the car isn't too bad to drive... It's the 1.8 Turbo engine (detuned Audi TT engine) and 4 wheel drive and can give worst economy figures than my 3.2 Omega if you aren't careful ::) :o

But it does go well :y :y Although I refuse to give it as much of a pasting now they have moved over to cheaper tyres. The Pirrelli P6000's it used to be shod with worked very well on it but these cheap ditch finders don't fill me with confidence :-X :-X

Most shitbox cars win awards, even Kias and similar rubbish. I bet every car has an award.

The superb saloon wins the award for the ugliest car ever made though :y

Like the Audi it's based on, expect suspension issues on the superb

Where the hell was this dragged up from? Incidentally the car went for £120 to a Skoda fan and I saw it on the Formby bypass a couple of weeks ago

Talking to a local VAG specialist yesterday who strangely enough commented that he had never had to fix any rear suspension issues on Superbs, no springs, shocks.....nothing

It is a natural progression to update from an aging Omega to the Superb, they are great cars

Martin, I think you are getting a little confused with "Car Of The Year" awards as voted for by the industry......I am talking about JD Power, Which, Auto Express polls as voted for by the important people......customers.....

Awards earned from customer feedback doesnt usually allow "shitbox" cars to win.....

i thought this was a "no swearing" forum, as per Moderators guidelines issued previously............????

I'll concede to the Frog eyed Scorpio, maybe the Ami (there's one you see around here from time to time when the weather is nice) but can't agree with the CV8. Admittedly it's different, but I think it's that different from anything else ever put on the road that it starts to look good!  :-? ::) :-? ::)  ;)

No but they still look relatively ugly.

I think it was a deliberate effort to lose that market sector.

Remember Carlton/Senator sales were similar to Granadas, Omega sales were a lot higher than the wide mouth frog.
