Title: Prince Charles
Post by: albitz on 17 August 2011, 18:33:38
**@~^"!!!!! should be locked in a rubber room, wearing a jacket which does up at the back.
The Royals used to hide the deranged relative away from public view, but the current one is our next King. ::)

Wishful thinking.Public opinion doesnt have any bearing on it. He is entitled to take the throne and is gagging to do so. He will be king.

Imo Phillip is a character, and I have a grudging respect for the grumpy old bugger. Charles isnt a character though. Hes just a certifiable idiot. ;)

Webby The Bear - you are entitled to your opinion, obviously, but please try and express it in a less offensive way. Thanks.

Thats as maybe (although I *mostly* disagree), but he's still a character.

Sorry to bring religion in but have they changed the law to allow a catholic queen. As I believe his current wife is catholic.
I do not follow these things that much, but I am sure the country in general would prefer the younger couple than the idiot charles. So I wonder if pressure would be applied for him to abdicate or whatever it is he would need to do.

I am sure there are some people who would rather not have any royals and I respect their right to their views.

Whether or not I like the Royals, I support them, as they bring a load more into UK plc than the cost. Thats good business.

That certainly used to be true, but Im not so sure now. Charles recieves many millions from the tresuary for putting huge useless windmills all over his estates.

Aye, but so do some many other toffs, because they know its a good fiddle.

But thats nought to do with being a Royal.

Agreed, but it does affect the incoming/outgoing balance sheet figures, and the supporting argument. ;)

And if the Royals were closed down tomorrow, he, like any other toff, would continue to use these loopholes.

If I had the money and the space, I'd exploit them as well.

Nope, he'd be an overpaid front for a corporation where he'd have no real power ;)

Your right of course, but it would only be due to his former title. Nothing to do with merit.
Im not really pro or anti royal.I dont have very strong fellings on the subject one way or the other. I just think Charles is a prize dickhead.Always has been, always will be.

You could say that about most personalities that are brought in as a face for an organisation.

Whilst I have huge respect for Maj and her hubby (because his goofs are always spot on), I do think there are too many hangers-on.  But, for what they cost the UK, they bring in far more.  Thus, generally, I'm all for it.

Having met a few of the royals I can say that yes they do.  When they go to a public engagement they don't just turn up they learn all about the event and have a genuine interest.  If you look objectively at what they do for the country they all put in more than they get back and that is a quantifiable fact.

But then again I am biased so just forget what I wrote as it means nothing.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting them, but I have no reason to suspect they wouldn't.  You think privilege automatically makes them disrespectful?  I think quite the opposite - the recent unrest shows that.
