I must be reading it differently, because I don't see them say anyone ejected?

Other information by 'phone suggested that the pilot had ejected .. but not confirmed in any way.
Still hopeful but would have thought that a successful ejection would have been reported before now ...... :(
EDIT
Daily Mirror are reporting the pilot ejected but sustained injuries .... however they are the ONLY source of this information .... :-/ :-/ :-/

Hopefully they're right - there's not a lot left of that Hawk :-/

Sadly, he did not.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2028303/Red-Arrows-pilot-killed-crash-near-Bournemouth-Airport-festival-display.html
An RAF Red Arrows pilot was killed today when an aerobatic display plane crashed after performing at an air show in Bournemouth. Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging died after issuing a Mayday call at 1.50pm.
The article goes on to say he was 'thrown clear' - so didn't eject. One imagines he stayed in to keep the aircraft clear of the village. :'(

High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
RIP Flt Lt Egging

Very sad day for Red Arrows, my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. :(
The last previous double fatality was in Mar 1978, which I remember as I was working as an apprentice in Instrument and Trials department at RAE Farnborough, who were sent the video tape of the practice session for analysis.

He died to make sure noone else died when the Hawk crashed :( :( :'( :'(
-
Reports now are that it was a catastrophic bird strike, so a tragic, tragic accident, but down to pure random chance rather than pilot or maintenance error :-/

I do hate the toilet paper that is the Daily Mail, why print this:
Witnesses yesterday told how they found the body of the pilot, known as ‘Eggman’, face down in the River Stour.
Is that information really needed? He died we know that, I don't think we want to know how this talented pilot ended up :'(

Totally agree tunnie, no need whatsoever to print that level of detail.
An absolutely tragic loss. However, provides a testament to the quality and professionalism of the pilots who risk their own lives (and potentially give the ultimate sacrifice) to protect those around them when things go horribly wrong.
R.I.P. Flt Lt Egging, my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
