the other half has just said she has paid her ppl fee. hadnt a clue what she was on about, then she explained that she has to pay to listen to the radio or cds at work!( she owns a hairdressers)
wtf!! did we lose a war?!!! >:(
i know artists get royalties but i never knew this is how they got them, i just thought it was from record sales, dvds that sort of thing.
so every single business that has music playing for the enjoyment of customers has to pay this fee. unbelievable! >:( >:(

Indeed, playing music/radio in a 'public place' (defined by how many people are in there), needs a licence. Pubs, clubs, coffee shops, retail stores, offices, factories etc etc all have to pay it.
-
First ive heard of that too! :o :o
-
I hope from now on those places will be selective and dont play/pay for crap music..

Im on the commitee of a small club (any more than 8 people buying a drink in one night is considered busy) and this is one of our annual expenses. Istr its around £150 p.a.

ISTR a police force ordering all its employees not to listen to radio whilst at work in office etc do they don't have to pay that charge
