I currently have a Marriott Rewards credit card (basically re-badged Halifax one)
I was getting 1 points per £1, 2 points when spending at a Marriott. Clocked up an impressive 65,000 points over the several years I've had it. But had a letter to say that Marriott & Halifax will be no more.
I did take out a Play.com one for a while but I decided to ditch that and only have one.
Think I'll go back to that one unless anyone else can recommend something?
Interested in perks rather than interest free stuff :y

What did that get you? apart from points :-/

Points can be transferred to stays in Marriott, it would get me 2 or 3 nights depending where I go.
FatherT had two weeks in the USA all free on points!

65000 points....only gets you a couple of days in a Marriott :o ....dont think i'd bother...
Father T must have had a few light years of points ;D

considering its a couple of hundred quid a night, its not too bad. At time other cards offered sod all rewards.
Yeah fatherT has a rather large expenses input every month :D

I don't think you can go far wrong with the Lloyds TSB Air Miles Duo Card. The clever thing is to use the cards at Tesco: you not only receive the air miles for the purchase, but can also cash in the Clubcard vouchers for air miles. Same goes for Shell. If you get their free Drivers Club Card and pay each time using the Air Miles Duo card, you get points from both the card and from Shell. I've racked up loads of miles. Just need to think of somewhere to go. ;)

there is a lot of cards out there all with a variety of benefits. It may also be worth looking at your bank, I know that the HSBC Premier card has a lot of perks (points, discounts, extended warrenties, plus more) but you have to meet qualifying criteria http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/hsbc-premier
It may be worth looking at compare sites :y

i tore my american express up 10 yrs ago, havent had one since but could of had a 250k business card last year, was tempted but decided not to bother. i know they come in handy but id rather pay the cash than run up a credit card bill i have to pay back later. i know so many people who have to pay out loads of money each month to them, then have to use them all month to survive.
