Post by: blackviper90210 on 30 August 2011, 14:35:38
I'm having a blonde moment, once again  ::)

I'm trying to find out how to get a trade card, but for the life of me, I can't find the post that tells me.

Either join Autobahnstomers for 20 notes, or blag an application form at your local Vx Monkey dealer  :y

Just pop in and ask them nicely for trade prices, I've been doing it for years and even though I now have trade access via two other car Forums (vvoc and vxon) I still don't give them any details. Just today I fitted a Vx. timing belt kit to a Zafira, cost £68, which was cheaper than our usual Motor Factors.

Well I've been waiting for my ABS updated TC sticker (the one that you stick on the back of the ABS card) for a while now.

I payed my ABS subscription via Paypal over three weeks ago and haven't heard a thing, have asked a couple of times on the forum but not getting anywhere.

If it doesn't turn up in a week I will ask for my funds to be returned and find somewhere else that can supply a TC.

I don't know Mate, I'm looking at the receipt now and it states a Trade Club Code number...
The price was £56.41, part no. 93185845, timing belt kit for an '02' 1.8 Zafira.
The part was available off the shelf and came in GM packaging as you would expect, thing is though the old rollers were metal and the new ones plastic? Is that an upgrade do you think?

Tradeclub is the one you want as it's generally cheaper than trade.  :y

If you need parts urgently, and don't have the cheek to go begging in your local parts dept, then I'd be happy to go to my local dealer on your behalf...

"Tradeclub" gives you access to those items Vx sell at special prices to tradeclub members ... like the "4 for 3" offers on oils and other "service items.

My local dealers will give me "trade prices" on non-tradeclub items on production of the tradeclub card, and I've had the same "success" at SOME other dealers I've visited on my travels . but not all.

"Trade" and "Tradeclub" are certainly different .. but one can lead to the other .. :)

Nothing desperately required at the moment but will need to get some oil after i've done the next oil change.

So if i've heard nothing in another month i'll be screaming!!!

Tried to get 20L of Dexxos2 5w30 oil at a dealers I'd never used before not long ago. To  say I "beat a hasty retreat" when they have me the (non trade club) price would be an understatement. ;D

For items that can be posted economically, member andyc on here does a very good mail order service without the haggling that always seems to be required with my ABS card.

Same thing happened to me too with that oil... we've recently fitted a new turbo to an '07' Berlingo van, it has the same diesel engine as the Mini Cooper and requires 5 30 fully synthetic oil, we needed about 15 litres in all, best price (MF) was £16 per 5 ltrs...

As Kevin has said if its on Trade Club then you get it at TC price if its not on TC then you get it at Trade Price

Cheers

Anybody using the dealer in Banbury should have no trouble with ABS and other club cards.

The large chain dealers are far more problematic, many refusing to take my genuine TC card :o.  Evans Halshaw in Milton Keynes are the biggest pain in the butt for me, and I'd recommend avoiding them for anything if at all possible.

Surely if main dealers are refusing to take TC cards, or ABS cards with TC on it, when they're part of the TC group then Vx should step in?

Got my ABS card through today. My local dealer is Frosts in Chichester, anyone had problems using TC card there?

The old girl will need servicing soon, just wanted to know if anyone had problems there before I go bounding in with my new card  :-?

Also, probably a silly question but just thought of this, when using the ABS card at Vx dealer, can you pay using credit card or does it have to be cash?

Most will query ABS card, but when you point out the tc number on it, they are ok. Take the number of tc rep that comes in abs pack, just in case

IME any payment method is ok
