i have a mate who was layed off from a parcel force depot around 18 months ago. since then he hasnt even tried to get a job. hes more than happy picking up his dole every fortnight, laying in bed til 4pm every day, getting his rent paid through housing benefit and telling anyone that bothers to ask what hes up to that he is on his "gap year"
makes my blood boil!! >:( >:( >:(

Just how some people are, I'm actually working some additional contract work at the moment. I worked 12 days straight and got a similar patch coming up.

This work will not be around for much longer, so I'm working every chance I get at my other contract. I have things I want to do & they are not cheap, so I work hard to do things I want to do.

I love it when I have a day off and don't get up until the clock is PM, but doing that every day? I'd get seriously bored!

Half of my town is like that mate, except they never worked in the first place! Does make you wonder why you bother working when you can see exactly where your taxes go

I left school at 16 and went into full time employment straight away. Now 24 years later, I've recently lost my job, just had a knee op which stops me working and after 4 months I'm pulling my hair out!
I'm bored and fed up, to say the least.

As it stands I'm not going to be able to drive HGV for quite some time, so as of last Tuesday, I'm now enrolled on a years college course to learn Accountancy. Its for 6hrs, 1 day a week (Monday), so my plan is, when the hospital say I'm fit enough to go to work, I'm hoping to find an accountancy  job that will give me day release for my course. The fact I'm funding this myself, I'm hoping that a company will look favourably on me for this. ::)

But to stay off work and do nothing would drive me insane - after 4 months SWMBO wants to throttle me, lol.

well when someone can save up there benefits to go on an exotic holiday there is something seriously wrong, and use the excuse they cant work as they have 2 kids, doesnt matter that they are in full time education, its the excuse that pi$$es me off. they are better off financially not working.  >:(

I'll ditto that. Although I can't understand how they can still afford the holidays? I'm on £135 a fortnight with incapacity benefit and the wife is on maternity leave now but was earning £200 p/wk. We are struggling to make ends meet with just general bills and food shopping!  :(
