If he is so concerned, just as many of the law abiding general public are why does he not adopt the American system of '3 strikes and out' whereby on the 3rd appearance before a court for a criminal act it will result in the remainder of the criminals natural life being spent in prison, without any luxuries and with death being the only release?
I am certain that it would make those described as persistent 'feral criminals' taking a long think before believing they can get away with any act they perform. Surely the cost of the prison will be reduced by not affording them luxuries that even some poorer honest people of this country cannot afford. If honest people cannot afford them why should prisoners be given them? That is not a punishment, it is a hotel existence where they are waited on hand and foot. There is not any deterrent in that form of life! They obviously do not care for their families or friends, and far far less for their victims of crime or they would not place themselves into a situation where they end up as a prisoner in the first place.
I will wait now for the 'human rights' bleeding hearts to raise objections to that thought.... But please think first about how the law abiding people have had their rights taken away by the criminals they wish to defend! ;)

Would be unlawful under EU law, which overrides UK law - so a non starter. ;)

I don't see why prisons can't be self supporting, i.e. prisoners grow and rear and cook their own food and maintain the place. Could be done under the guise of learning a trade.
It is high time Cameroon split with the eurozone under the excuse of the current euro financial crisis (Italy and Spain - a long long way from being resolved). Has he got the balls to do it though.

Our current DPP is a strong supporter of the yumin rites act and thinks it should be strengthened and extended. He is a fromer defence barrister who specialised in yumin rites cases.
His predecessor was from the same mould, having been a lawyer at MATRIX, the company co-founded by the high preistess of yumin rites, Cherie Blair. She recently sat as a judge in a case where the defendant was guilty of smuggling £146,000 worth of Cocaine. She accepted his story that he had serious health problems, told the prosecuting lawyer to stop being unpleasant to him, and then sent the drug dealer home to be with his mum.It was so outrageous that the CPS took the very unusual step off overruling her.They had him rearrested and dragged him back to court, where he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
Lefty,wishy washy liberal thinking is deeply imbedded in our judiciary as it is in prettty much every institution of state in this country. The elected government, doeasnt actually seem to have that much power these days.

When will these clowns realise that the only way to stop re-offending is to keep them locked up until they are too infirm to cause a problem, or make prison hard time so that they ain't never going back. :y :y
Oh and while they will have plenty of time on their hands without all the electonic gizzmo's they can build a new nick for their friends to join them. :y :y

so i assume the Judge wouldn't be too upset if she came home to find squatters had moved in

in his new book (dont all rush at once) he says he has learnt new skills from being inside.
lets hope hes not pinning all his hopes on books sales or else he will be taking up those newly aquired ideas..
