Title: Home Insurance = Absolutely barmy
Post by: pscocoa on 09 September 2011, 15:02:03
My house insurance was looking expensive but then I have had some claims- I went on to same insurer - Direct Line - as new customer, notified the claims and the price was less than half - hundreds of pounds cheaper.

But that is not all - I went for the top cover which I did not have before - Home Insurance Plus so god knows what is going on - anyway I have accepted the DL quote. I checked against Aviva who wanted £250 more tha DL for a far worse level of cover.

Barmy.

I get £75000 worth of contents cover with aviva for £11 a month, but I have car ins with them too. I pay a bit more for one and get a big discount on the other.

A mate whose house is worth £1.5 million has no house insurance (buildings or contents) at all.

Not really - I advised him to at least go for a big excess (say first £50,000 or 100,000) so that the catastrophe is covered which would bring down the premiums massively - but he has not got round to it yet.
