Title: New Logo for the OOF
Post by: RobG on 10 September 2011, 22:11:20
Only just noticed that "oof" on the search bar has changed to "ovi" white lettering in a green box. What`s that all about then :-?

Sounds like something has been installed and overwritten your search settings. I suggest installing spybot to check for any spy/malware

seems like a common bug and you already tried some methods
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ar/w7itprogeneral/thread/8c4a7ee5-a635-4f96-b2fd-a14b43fe4f91

will look for some solns if I can find..

seems like this is useful

" Windows 7 themes change your custom icons

Windows 7 has some spectacular new themes - there's a great selection at the Microsoft site - but installing them can have one annoying side-effect. If you've previously changed a system icon like Computer or the Recycle Bin then that could disappear, replaced by the equivalent icon from the theme pack.

To prevent this, right-click an empty part of the desktop, select Personalize > Change Desktop Icons, clear the "Allow themes to change desktop icons" box and click OK. Your icons will now be preserved, and the only way to change them will be manually, from the same Desktop Icons dialogue
"

also
clearing the icon cache seems the only solution
there are different methods I recommend you try them again
http://smallvoid.com/article/windows-icon-cache.html

and if not solved rebuild seems the only solution so back to square one :P

ps: once you have correct icons back up frequently in a different folder than desktop so you can delete all and restore again..

using win 7 only in test machine.. I think we need some more time for it to be stable.. microsoft will release patches as usual and will correct it imo..

Considering Windows 8 is in beta and well down the road, Win7 should be much better.

I had a 7 test box for a while, fully legit copy too which is unusual for me! Lots of WiFi related issues, loads of just 'random' issues, MotherT's laptop has been 7 too, its needed quite a few re-builds  :(

I'd go Linux, but we have some Windows specific tools  :(

Wifi SMB issues fixed with SP1. And not before time.
