Title: F1 championship done and dusted
Post by: bob.dent on 12 September 2011, 15:33:54
Vettel may as well be crowned world champion now as there's no chance of anyone getting close to him now unless something causes him not to race for the remaining races. ::) Trouble is, when he gets out in front he's just untouchable in the Red Bull car. It's like a repeat of the Schumacher years when he won almost every pole and race for a few years. Good job there's still a bit of decent action going on behind him though.

I'm a Hamilton fan, but Button's pass was excellent, he passed them and might as well have said "that's how it's done Lewis, now eat my dust"

Agreed but bear in mind Ross Brawn did just warn Schumacher not to weave anymore just before Button passed. Hamilton had to put up with Scunis weaving for a good few laps.

Exactly what I said when he got past Schumi. :y Button reckons his one of his best ever overtakes and I'm not sure I'd disagree!! He seems to be getting better as he gets older. :y

Good point, Hamilton ended up on the grass at stupid MPH because of Scumachers antics in front of him. When he blatantly broke the "one move" rule, why did he not get a stop/go ?
Anyone else would have done.
Hamiltons car also seemed to be set up wrong as he was hitting the rev limiter half way along the pit straight.
Hes the best driver of this generation imo. If the cars were all the same my money would be on Hamilton every time.
Fairly enjoyable to watch yesterday, because it was at Monza. A proper racetrack, even if it has been partially nuetered by silly chicanes.

Apparently something to do with the gearbox ratio setup according to Brundle. :-/

His bosses certainly think so,seems that they are trying to keep him for the remainder of his career.Funny innit, everyone thought Lewis would eat him for breakfast in the same car :y

Generally speaking, he has. But Hamilton has had a pretty poor season this year. Some of it of his own making, some of it not. ;)

He's getting Frustrated not being at the front & winning. He needs to calm down a bit I think

He did exactly that yesterday - seemed very lacklustre compared to his usual aggressive style. It's my guess he actually wanted to finish a race!! ::)

Just look at that prick Alonso, did I mention he was a prick? He has done bugger all in the way of winning to speak of, but like a bad smell he is hanging around the top of the championship because of consistency finishing 3-5th ish  :(

If Vettel clinches it in 2 weeks, does that mean the end of the season? Or do we still have to endure the tedium of this false racing?

Hamiltons arrogance is his undoing, got totaly the wrong temprement.

Better driver or not, I will always back Button over Hamilton for that fact alone.

Never seen a great driver who didnt have a touch of arrogance. ;)
He has that hunger to win though that TB is always banging on about. He also states his heroes and inspiration as Gilles Villeneuve and Senna and has never once mentioned Scumacher in that sense, which to me says that he really knows what being a racing driver is all about. ;)
Interestingly,I read an interview with Ecclestones daughter last week who said that Button was a nice guy until he won a title but he then becamo insufferably arrogant and big headed.
I must admit he certainly doesnt come across that way on camera, and I do rate him higher as a driver than TB does. ::)

Thats contary to what Eddie Jordan and co stated on TV the other week saying that he was the best world champion they had known and was always there to talk to people and went to every charity and promotional event he could squeeze in

Agreed, hamilton may have more raw speed but that alone does not win races

I reckon he is certainly fast but mostly when out on his own in front and not under much pressure, see how quick he fell off when Button hunted him down in Canada ;)

Have to say I was delighted with the coverage. The onboard stuff of Hamilton trying to pass Schumaker was excellent and showed first hand the exact problem Lewis was having with too low a 7th gear. Just getting into position to pass.... Bobobobob banging of the rev limited. Lewis was all over him apart from that.... And Jenson didn't have the low gearing issue. Hence the pass, or partly.

Fantastic "RACE" really enjoyed it! Liked the shots from the air ballon as well.  :y

Of course, you have to remember that Button suffers dandruff, so that itching inside his helmet must be a distraction.  ;) ;D ;D

Did the coverage director/producer actually do some decent in car shots then, rather than wide angle shots of cars approaching, losing all sense of speed?

Does each country arrange own coverage?

I believe they do. :-/

It was the onboard stuff that was compelling. Concentrating o  the car in front was a real eye opener. You need to react twice as quick. Not just to your oen car and position on the track, but to what the guy in front was doing as well.

Guessing camera positions where limited as usual otherwise.

Earlier this year Hamiltons wins/starts ratio was 16 from 84.
Buttons was 11 from 204.  ;)

True enough :-[,but I really feel that button has upped his game this year, I think Hamilton would agree as well
