Title: Sorry, but I'm getting cross again (EU)
Post by: Nickbat on 12 September 2011, 11:14:59
Puppies and kittens could be clubbed to death under new European Union regulations on the welfare of laboratory animals.

Currently, newborn puppies, kittens, ferrets and fox cubs which are not needed for scientific research are put to sleep.

But rules due to become law in the UK by 2013 sanction killing by a 'percussive blow to the head'.

If it kills them straight away without pain then what's the issue?  Or is paralysing their lungs so they effectively choke to death slowly over a few minutes more preferable.

It takes several seconds of electrocution to kill a cow in an abbatoir because they can no longer use the hydraulic rams to puncture the skull and brain (resulting in an immediate death)

Besides it's the Daily Mail so the accuracy of what has been printed is doubtless in question vis-avis the usual alarmist spin they generate.

And remember when it comes to killing animals, what seems the most humane is not always the case  :y

The current method of lethal injection is considered the most humane method of despatch. Thus, clubbing is wholly unnecessary in my book. One has to ask the question why should it be necessary to change the law. Is it a question of saving money?  :-?

As for the old chestnut about the Daily Mail, one has to remember that, whilst like any paper, it can be guilty of misreprentation, at least it brings those stories to readers which are otherwise ignored. The so-called quality papers seem generally very pro-Europe. (One has to wonder why.  ::) )

And van rumplestiltskin (or whatever his name is) has said he is ready to serve a second term, and by the end of that term wishes to be president of the United States of Europe.

Actually, I am calm. These things make me cross for a few minutes, then I get on with life. Don't forget them, though. Especially when I need to vote!  ;) ;D

It's not going to encourage them or otherwise. ;)

They couldn't give a toss who does or doesn't vote for them. That's the problem.  >:(

Some times you have to vote tactically to keep out the left wingers

I can not see that passing being honest..... There would be a public outcry.
People see an animal getting hurt or killed and cry.... Its as though animals are above humans at times to me...

As for the bolt into the brain, according to the program I watched it stuns and without feeling... it was the knife that bled them to death. I was quiet suprised  as to the barbaric way in our day and age    :(

Our eldest daughter has turned vegetarian since seeing something similar at school in an RE class...., what that has to do with Religious Education I aren't rightly sure  :question
