Having new carpets laid in a house I've been working on for the last few weeks and whilst sweeping the upstairs floors, noticed 3 wet patchs on the floorboards :(
Now my first thoughts given the wet weather recently was leak in the roof, but all the ceilings are dry and I've been in the attic and there no noticable evidence of a leak. There's no central heating pipes near the wet patchs and the boiler is holding its pressure. I've lifted some of the boards and the joists underneath are dry as are the underside of the boards......
Its been suggested that there's a cat getting in and peeing on the boards, don't know how though and I'm totally flummoxed.... :(

We had a mysterious damp patch and that turned out to be water getting in where metal work was attached to the outside wall. A 2 inch long seal of mastic cured the problem.
Were the carpets wet as well? Someone spilt something and not owned up?

Shoot the cat. Problem solved :y

Luckily the carpets arn't down yet and I've delayed them till next week. I've been thinking about it this afternoon and I reckon that the cat theory might be right. There were stains on the floorboards where there are now wet patchs and I've been working in the garden for the last few days with the back door open.... The little barsteward could have nipped in marked his territory and nipped out without me noticing.. >:( >:( >:(
If I catch him, he'll be an ex-cat!!! >:( >:( >:(

Something along the lines of "That must be one handsome man-cat. I must let him mount me." perhaps... ;D
