I'm thinking of buying one of these for the caravan:-
http://www.milenco.com/products/levelling-ramps/aluminium-leveller
Would a top quality cordless wrench be powerful enough to use to wind it up and down?
Caravan is approx 1400kgs.

Never used one Barry, but I've always had enough lift using the ordinary yellow plastic ramp. :y :y
As for using a cordless wrench, depends on the pitch of the lifting thread. ;)
-
It's a very slow thread, comes with a short rachet & extension bar.

I've just looked up the price of them :-? ............... I'll stick with my yellow levelling wedge ;) ;) ;)

You could spend the money on a couple of week-ends away instead :y :y

I've got one-you'll want a very powerful drill to operate it!
I've got a socket on a ratchet and it is hard work and quite slow!
Good for levelling though!

That's what I've heard.
Yet their adv. says levelling in seconds - can't see it myself.

Excuse my ignorance & being a "vanner" i'm not taking the proverbial but what exactly is it for?
Is it for parking the van on an incline/gradient too steep for the legs to compensate?

It's used for leveling the van by jacking up one wheel (without removing the wheel), as the legs are steadies, and mustn't be used for jacking.

Last time I used it it took around 10 mins to lift the van about 5 inches-Superman must have tested it for them if it takes seconds.

Are these any use for lifting a car...? :-/ or is a car too heavy? Got a cordless impact wrench for winding....? :-/

For a caravan or motorhome, will lift 1000kgs, so yes, it would lift one corner of a car with 13" to 16" wheels.
Would be interesting to test one with your wrench.

Many years ago I built one myself after going armed with a tape measure to copy one in the shops..
All I can say is I don't think there is any weight taken on the examples in the photos, mine deformed the tyre quite a bit before it lifted.. I think there's probably an axle stand hiding underneath the caravans somewhere...

hotels are already level, problem solved! :D
-
I had to use 2 yellow wedges, pieces of wood and a trolley jack to get level in Purbeck, will get more wedges if we go again
-
So, to come back to my original question, would a cordless impact wrench be powerful enough to lift up to 1000kgs?

Steve B seems to think not ;) ;)

You don't know until you try but my guess would be that the impact wrench would do the job just fine but the lifting gubbins would break under the stress of the impacts.
Just my guess and, as the saying goes, that plus a pound buys you a lottery ticket ;)
