I agree. There are some on here that are far too quick to slap others down. It says more about them than those they slap down.  :(

It should also be mentioned that there are a number of steam engine enthusiasts and caravan owners on here, so why not Stobart spotters? Each to his own, I say. :y

And I do have a sneaking admiration for the Stobart setup myself. A good example of how to run a business. :y

Many people would think it sad that a group of grown men stand around in a car park staring under the bonnets of each others Vauxhall Omegas, but we do it. ;) :D ;D

to answer your question mate............. i'm not the sort that would keep a log of the trucks i see but it's surprising how keen you get to rush up to an eddie on the motorway to see the name.  ;D

Wholeheartedly agree, Albs.

Why is it necessary to pick on people (especially newbies) merely because they have an interest and want to see if others share the same. "family guy" merely asked if others share his hobby. If you don't, then don't post. Simples.  :y

P.S. To "family guy" Welcome to the forum, mate! Some of us on here are really rather nice!  :y :y ;)

BTW where are Stobart spotters on the spotting hierarchy?

Top appear to be military aircraft spotters, followed very closely by train spotters, and bus spotters near the bottom.

Yes I have met all 3 types!

Yep, it most certainly is, Albs.  :y

And to those who think that the Stobart truck "Valentino" is named after Rossi, I thought that all Stobart's trucks were given "girlie" names.

Cue incandescent Albs.  ;) ;D

HUGE difference

Bus spotters and bus enthusiasts are a lot more seperated than train spotters and rail enthusiasts. Most bus enthusiasm is from working on them or childhood memories.

I like old buses but would never do spotting of them.

Possibly plus it seems to be an offshoot of photography.

Train spotting has died down due to the mass use of multiple units and foreign built locos.

Bird spotting - never though about non transport

stobart spotting is great fun, nothing keeps a 5 yr old, 4 yr old and a 2 yr old entertained more on motorway journeys. plus the fact im a great big kid who is 24 going on 14 helps immensely. named one 'trixie' after my nan many years ago and currently got my daughters name 'Aimee-Lea' on the waiting list. to the people who question the point of it, i welcome your questioning. the point of it is simply to see the girls names and see how many you can spot. ive got just over a 1000 of them.

if people think it is sad then that is there choice, it dosent bother me, as a bus driver i would say that bus spotting is not my thing. but i still flash m y lights and wave at the bus spotters as it makes them feel good, which is what life is about, you do what makes you feel good.

p.s i challenge any of my more northern based fellow members to take a trip up the M6 or M1 and not see a shed load of them.

Evening family guy. I drive a truck (not a Stobbart). I'm not a spotter, not even into trucks much, it's just my job but good on you for sharing your hobby with us. I have a couple of anorak hobbies, classic cars & old diecast models but only the ones that were sold as toys in the 50's/60's/70's & i go weak kneed at the mention of a Cortina...yeah i've got one & i'm in between caravans so good on you for putting yourself out there.
I'd rather Stobbie spot than watch "Talent?" shows on telly or go fishing.

WTF is fishing all about...why do it? I've got mates that have spent fortunes on all the gear to sit on the Humber wall all night & come home tired saying they loved it...loved what? nothing happened!!!!!! ::)

At the end of the day, we're all kids at heart!  I love aircraft and as a kid used to build plastic kits. Trying to get all the gear together again and start it up again. I've got loads of kits in the loft unmade and worth a few bob.
SWMBO hates all things military, even though she's ex Navy (not her fault I suppose), lol.

She moans and bitches at me for the kits and spending money on my mig, but it's my interests/hobby. I never winge when she goes out with her girlfriends shopping or when she goes on spa days  >:(

Any hobby that makes you happy, well good on you and stuff those that mock it! Chances are they have no life or hobby and wish they did and are just plain jealous!!  ;)

Embarrasing hobbies

Railway enthusiast, was train spotter when lots of locos, was a camadery back then.

Gaming, since the VIC20 to the PC and PS3 I love playing games. Known to be a big fan of Uncharted and Killzone series.

Modelling, both railway and aircraft, current projects include this coach - the chap sent me the full detail pictures I used to produce the underframe, I had to guess the air brake location and found an old B&W picture of its correct livery of blue & grey.

http://www.sharpos-world.co.uk/cpg/albums/myfolder/Photos/Rail/Std-pres/svr2005-aut-stock/normal_CAN42781.jpg

Also just got to finish an Airfix Nimrod, and a 1/24 scale Harrier GR3.

So I have just admitted to a lot.

Not a bird spotter but was nice watching water birds from a hide at Studland.
