Anyone interested in one last meet of the year? As above at a campsite. This would be for October 26,27. As soon as there is enough interest enquiries can be made?
-
Dang ... working that weekend or I would have loved to come .. :(
-
As mentioned in the other thread. Too far for us sadly. :'(
-
If I get time, I'll pop in to the campsite this weekend and check out availability, prices, facilities etc. :y
-
I'd love to but as I'm going to The Lakes on 27th; no-can-do.......
-
Anyone have a problem with going back to Newent, Mavis will keep us warm :)
-
What about a poll on this one?
Razzo if you could do the check of availabilty and facilities that would be great. Lets see if we can get something organised. If either of them have electric hookup that would be even better.
-
AFAIK all pitches @ Newent have leccy, see what others think as it seemed to be a good place to stay,
gotta be a bit more flexible on site & dates but open to suggestions

If back at Newent we may well be able to make it but I understand if people prefer to stay closer to home. My only concern at the proposed time of year is that it will be too cold for most to all sit out like we did last week and, if wet, may well be a miserable time, apart from the great company of course.
Perhaps a day trip somewhere would be a sensible compromise?
We would love to meet up with everyone again. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

How about a couple of 'Cambelt' meets, a WIM visit or closer to Christmas we could drop the SWMBO's off at a shopping centre and have a 'mini' meet
-

Tiverton to Newent 11/2 hours. Tiverton to Hoddeston 31/2 hours.
Never been to site in Herts but the Newent site was fairly child friendly with a large field and a nice family bathroom. :)
-
As we have just been to Newent I think having another there in a couple of months may get a little repetitive. However after seeing what a good site it was I think most if not all would go there again.
How about we look to doing Newent at a similar time next year?
-
Well it looks like that some people would like to do just a day meet somewhere. So what do you all have in mind?
-
I quite like the Hoddeston idea....altho double the distance for me.
If Bob is correct and theres a pub right next door....and not miles down the road ;D it could be ideal for evening meal/gathering....as i think its gonna be too cold to be standing about with barbecues that time of year.
Also somewhere to shelter during the day if the weather isnt great.
Tho im only in favour.....if pub and campsite accepts dogs :y

Quite right TD it wouldn't be a proper meet without Holly the OOF dog.

Oh I'm sure they will.

How about some sort of travel lodge with a pub attached that is family friendly?
Other clubs that i have been involved with have organised events during the winter months that have been like this, on the whole they are a cracking time, if the party is big enough you may be able to negotiate a better price as well ;)
It's just another idea that might be worth looking into to, I really liked newent but in October it could be really hit and miss
-
Well I'm easy and open to all suggestions.
-
I'm a summer camper, the idea of camping almost in November doesn't appeal to me ::)

I have all the camping stuff, including heaters :y
Trouble is, my bones don't take too kindly to the damp cold November nights.....

What a good idea. Check this out (https://www.travelodge.co.uk/make_a_booking/availability.php?hotel_id=57&doa_dd=26&doa_mm=10-2007&stay_len=2&no_of_rooms=4&smoking_1=SM&smoking_2=SM&smoking_3=SM&smoking_4=SM&corp_id=&rate_plan=&agent_type=&agent_code=&x=115&y=12). :)

That is a realy good idea. Why didn't I think of this. Its more central for most of the oof members and into the bar in the evening then crawl to you'r room at the end of the day, hick, hick, hick sounds great. At least TB will be happy with something like that, in a nice warm room alcahol on tap he's well happy! ;D ;D I up for that and the missus. :y

This thread has gone a bit quiet ::) :-/
Its getting to be like JO3 thread ;D

Not a bad idea - as Jaime said, the end of October probably is a bit on the cool side for camping.
The only thing is, with a pub you can't sit around drinking and talking bol*ocks to the early hours of the morning! ::)

What, not even with 24hr licensing, im shocked :o ;D

So the travel lodge could be the answer to it all then? Anyone fancy that then? At least we could all sit around and drink till the early hour's and no need to stagger to far as well!! ;D ;D

Yes they do but depends which travelodge. I am looking for a travelodge with a bar inside or a pub attached/next to it. Once I have found one that is quite central to everybody then I will post details on here.

Don't forget to check out hotels as well. Upto 15 rooms on a weekend in October must be worth a good room rate. The Hilton has a nice pool by the look of it. :)
