God knows why they have listed it under that category though......!!!

Mebbe looking for a particular, specialist, type of purchaser, seeing as how bidders must be 'pre approved'?
How did you stumble over the listing, by the way.... :-?
And dont say you were searching for a Monaro - not that old chestnut.... ;D

Wouldn't we all, I tried to get one on that 3 day test drive thingy the dealers were offering, they said it didn't apply to the Monaro :(

i love those things, very good looking car IMO, the VXR editions make it look very mean (not one on eBay)
Seats are brilliant, so supportive, thats my dream replacement for the Omega.

So supportive? surely not in size 10!! ;D

Could do with a little more power though, I thought they were more than 333 BHP? Pretty low for a 5.7. How much is the VXR version?
The V8 engine will sound lush though, especially if it's got an X-pipe between the two exhaust systems 8-)

I was looking at Monaros actualy......as I can afford one (dont tell the wife!).....but think I had better wait until number two child turns up!
I have to say that I would not got for the 2005 plus model as the boot is next to useless.....

I looked at Monaros too when I was considering replacing the 840 a few months back. While I'm sure it's got a nice engine and good handling, it does look rather cheaply built and a bit bland in terms of styling. Not really what I wanted in an 840 replacement (that was a £65,000 car when new, and the build quality and materials reflect that). And if the standard Monaro is only 333 BHP it's barely more powerful than the 840, which is one of the things I wanted to improve. The 850CSi is 380 BHP standard and tunes to just over 400 easily so that would've been a better option.
Also looked at a few others... 986 Boxster S, too common and not keen on the girly looks; 996 Carrera 4, very nice and very tempting, but at the very top of my price range and fears of the rear main seal going resulting in a huge bill scared me a little; Nissan 350Z coupe, liked this one but again the interior was very plasticy and cheap compared to the 840; even looked at a few TVRs but the reliability reputation is terrible. In the end none of them really set my heart on fire so I decided it wasn't worth the money and hassle and I'll keep the 840 until next summer (unless something catches my eye in the meantime!).

Boot?? What use is a boot when you have a Megga Estate ;D
I heard the VXR handling is based entirely on how much fuel is in the tank, as its right over the back axel!! :o
-
Its the tuning that realy is the plus point......at the end of the day its a small block chevvy...the most tuneable engine on the plant and the cheapest to do!

They have offered to lease the monaro to us at work - they have 19 of them so its names in a hat - but at £76 a week - think I will stick to me V6.

I think you an' me are leading parallel lives Mark, even down to preferrence of boot size and arrival of offspring #2!!!
I was drooling over a black 55 plate VXR last weekend. £32k they wanted for it!! However I've found a number of the early models at nearly affordable prices. I'll be holding out till next year when I have to trade out my MV6 and one of them will be very high on the shopping list.
