Title: Reading meet No8?
Post by: VX1 on 02 March 2009, 11:39:22
As the last meet was a success (No7) There are some members that would like to turn up but don't want tosit in traffic to get there. So I am going to put up a poll for who is interested to attend.
The next meet would be the 28/03/09 at 1.30pm or earlier depending on interest.

If anyone has a suggestion for a weekend meet then please feel free, bearing in mind campsite locations. Possibly could do a cambelt party IF anyone was interested? Maybe some one has a reasonable marque they could bring?

Is it possible to vote for dates AND a location?  As far as I can see you can only for for one of the options..

Yes you can but I added the choice after I saw your post Ian, but I have noted it down anyway.

Also I have just looked at the Wellington Country Park for a weekend meet as well, they also have three rallie sites, unfortunately they don't have electric hookup for those areas but at least we would all be together. What do people think of this? we could make a weekend of it plus do some small repairs at the same time. If there is enough interest then I could get some figures sorted out with them and see where we go from there.

where about's is this wellington county park
i would prefer a weekend meet as a 5 hour round trip of driving can be alot so weekend break would be ideal so i get a break

voted for Lord Darby personally but i think there is a way to keep everyone happy.

Those that would like a weekend at the the pikey camp, sorry, caravan park could do so over the 2 days, or whatever.

Those that have pikey allergys can attend anywhere anytime over those two days wherever is easiest and we can ALL meet there??? That way everyone is catered for. Personally i wonder if a Sunday would be better for the main meet...?

Both alternative locations are 20 odd mins from welly park, the George is 5 mins from my house and The lord Darby is a nice run out and more central for others.  I would suggest hard standing near a pub, cafe or somewhere warm if the weather turns...?

And no you wont get me in a caravan, my car will be stripped and up on bricks by the time i fight my way out... :-)  :D

So then, any further thoughts on this? The results would suggest a weekend do. But are we all able to attend over 2 days? Personally can only commit a good afternoon tbh.

a weekend will be better for me depending on ann's work
its a 2 and half hour run for me so a weekend or even one night will be fine and better

Yes that's correct. If anyone wants to come over for the weekend and stay at the campsite they can do. I am trying to make it so that other forum members that have to travel some form of distance can do without the worry of getting back home. I would like this to be come a "fix your car" weekend as well as there is 1 member so far that needs there cambelt replacing so thats one job so far. It would be good if we can make this into a cambelt party at the same time and get more people along including some Admins as well.

Ok to clarify about this Reading meet. The meet is on.......

Saturday 04/04/09 ONLY
Rivermead Car Park
Richfield Avenue
Reading
Berkshire.

The meet has been moved back to this venue due to, at the time, not knowing how members were going to turn up. I know there were 7 members garunteed to arrive unfortunately due to low numbers this was not feesable to do due to the cost involved. The reason this has been moved to Rivermead was due to cost, I had wayed up this and it would have cost (those that were definately coming) approx £30 -£40 per car + fuel+ food contribution to the barbeque so in total looking around £60 per car were as having the venue at Rivermead the cost would £0 - £9 per person + fuel so looking at £40 all in. I have put a notification in the meets section headed South west/East cambelt party 2009 which IS the Reading meet no 8.

I hope this has cleared up any misunderstanding by all parties.
