Hello,
It's a bit of an unusual request this one, but i'm photographing a Capri for a magazine feature (Retro Ford) in SLady bitshorpe on Friday 2nd October and we're looking for an Omega (and possibly the owner) to appear in some of the photos. It'll be a full 5 or 6 page feature on the Capri, not just a small pic in Readers Rides etc.
The reason for me posting here is the Capri is quite unusual in that it has a 3.0 v6 Omega engine and manual box fitted and we'd like to display a link between the 2 cars in the pics. The Omega number plate would not appear in the pics or can be erased if thats a problem! Lol. Any takers would need to be available for approx an hour around lunchtime/ early afternoon in SLady bitshorpe on Fri 2nd Oct - anyone living local would be ideal - I could bung you a few quid towards your petrol. ;)
if the weather takes a dramatic turn for the worse, the photoshoot may be postponed until Sat 10th Oct, but that will probably be decided a day or 2 before the shoot! Interested parties please PM me or email jonrcass@yahoo.co.uk.
Thanks,
Jon

I'm far from an admin groveller (just setting the record straight) but a big thankyou to The Boy for Pm ing me the link as i probably never would've seen it.
Mark & i are both Omega & old school Ford fans & this item brings the two together really well. This can only be positive for OOF & Retro Ford mag.
Looking forward to having a look at the Capri. :y

Why on earth would you put an Omega, high maintenance V6 into a Low maintenance V6 car of similar power.... :o :o

... and the engine is nearly half the weight of the Essex and Cologne.

Not similar power either, the later capris were 150bhp the 3.0 Omega is 208 that nearly a 40% increase ;)

Brown noser! ;D
I knew how passionately you defended that Cortina you were so fond of, and seeing as it was around the corner from you, you seemed like an obvious 'volunteer' :y

The Cortina was a good'un despite not being that old as classics go. Thing is with 'Tinas by nature 99% were fleet cars from new so most ended up on the banger circuit, killed a few myself when i was racing & Mk1 & 2 Escorts which i love & cost a fortune now but most were never loved from new.
Got my eye on something else for next year's classic shows...ends tomorrow!!!!! 8-)

My bro had a W reg Cortina 2.3 Ghia from new, but then became a Vauxhall man when he started to get company cars. Now he is a BMW man, won't consider anothing else. Hope being gay isn't in the genes...

I'm not a VX fan by any means, i just love Migs. Veccies are pants although i like cavs, astras are better than fwd escorts (shite) & i'd have a fiesta instead of a nova/corsa anytime but going back to the classics i like from the 60's & 70's when most cars were Proper wheel drive an anglia or escort was a better drive than a viva, cortinas were better than victors & i'd have a zephyr/zodiac/mk1 granada over a cresta/viscount any day
Ironically my first car was a 101 victor!!!!! ::)

Who is it?
I've been reading PPC for some time, and have recently been talking to nick about it.
I mean...
Home brew turbocharged Rolls Royce track car.
27 litre Rover SD1, home built for 200mph.
and loads of other silly things.
Seriously brilliant mag.
Had a few email conversations with the editor Will Holman, cool chap.

There were some more arty pics of the Capri & MV6's taken which you will see soon. The photos are shot months ahead so not sure which issue of Retro Ford will feature them. Soon as i know...etc.
Sorry for being self indulgent with the Mini picks but i love it. Proper pics to follow soon but i tried to get a few under bonnet Capri shots, things have been turned about a bit. He does'nt run Vx management hence the pic of the website for all you tekkies!!! 8-)

Proud owner of the estate is a certain Markey Mark.
It's a rare beast being an MV6 manual estate that drives as well as it looks as i've been lucky enough to "have a play"
Reckon they look cool tegether if i say so myself!! 8-)

that will be mine !! :y

Might be a daft question but why is the pleunum on the wrong way round?
Theres still a load of room in there.
-
Well spotted. Not sure, he did say but i'm better on the valeting than the grubby bits. Markey Mark is the best man to ask if not look out for the relevant Retro Ford issue. They shoot a few months ahead of print to check the newsagent shelves. :y

cause of the angle of engine to bonnet it wouldnt fit the other way round !! :y

Now you will have to sneak it out wrapped in a porno mag or something - I haev seen people smuggling them to the checkout in papers ;D ;D
-
DVDs of last week's shoot will be in the post tomorrow guys. Thanks again for your help. :y
Cheers,
Jon

Cheers Jon. Recieved. Won't post til issue is in press. Gonna have preview now!!! :y

Looks like He's fed each bank with seperate Air Filters, could possibly get more air in that way, abiet warm air, not sure how the Air Flow Meter comes in though and Multi Ram?
-
I imagine he's got an aftermarket engine management system on it. The OEM one wouldn't work very well without a MAF, as said!
.. and the one remaining multiram doesn't appear to have an actuator on it. :-/

That is a good answer but the capri had a bulge in the bonnet
or is that still not enough?
-
If you looked at the car from the side with the bonnet up you can see there'd not be enough clearance. The bulge in the bonnet is further back. Well spotted though! :y

sounds like a big job to me, seen a MK1 fiesta XR2 with imprezza turbo engine fitted.
