OK folks anyone interested in having a trip to Europe next year ::), given there was'nt enough interest for one this year, show your interest on this thread, as most folk wanted to plan it for next year :y........so I am going to suggest May or June next year (2010), the reason I suggest May/June is cos it's still cheaper for both the campsite and ferries (more than ten folk/cars (we will be going for a discounted group ferry booking), and also school's mid term break (for folks that want to bring their kids), and the same campsite that I found in Belgium see link......
http://www.camping-memling.be/
Anyone have other suggestions regarding month, dates or alternative venue then let us know :y....as we may well do a poll depending on any alternative suggestions :y ....So come on folks we have plenty time to arrange this :y
-
I'm up for it :D

Top job mike :y :y I would definitely be up for this and my kids will be coming too :-X ::) so a half term date would be the best for me ::) ::) My personal thought's is that it should be for at least 3 nights (4 days) to warrant getting the 3 bed detached peggy thinggyy (with spacious lounge ::)) out of the loft ;D ;D ;D
Brugges seems like a good place, I really don't fancy a bloody great long drive after being ejected from the floaty car transporter ;) ;)

Last time I went to Brugge, it was around 90mins from the Calais train terminus to Brugge, nice easy run as well. The Ferry port would be similar I imagine, as although nearer by 3 or 4 miles, its a little slower to get to the motorway
-
Additionally, iirc, no tolls on the Calais/Brugge route, so that'll save a few € :)

Make it an hour as we will have to stop for our cheap booze/fags/cigars/baccy/porn vids :-/ at tobbacco alley in Adinkerke ;D ;D ;D ;D

Very interested Mike :y
-
We're interested, but must say I may have to pass as I know the Pikey Box may be a bit pricey on the Ferry ::) ::) ::)

Bit of bathroom sealant and we could tow it behind the ferry for free.............. :-X ;D

There are huts you can hire at the site, save taking pikey wagon - certainly an option to consider. I may well do that so I don't have to lug everything over there

I thought there were but couldn't see them on a very quick glance on the site...
That's good news then... We're definitely interested, as long as it doesn't clash with my other commitments for that time of year :y :y :y

Huts sounds like a plan for me.... Foot passenger from Rosyth to Zeebrugge then looking for uplift from some kindly soul, with later dropoff?? ;D

Just spoken to Mrs LD and she said it sounds good :y :y :y
As for picking up someone... Assuming I have space in the car it's not a problem :y :y :y
I can't see we'd need that much gear anyway :-/ :-/
-
Hut Defo... :)
-
Sounds like the start of a good plan :y :y :y
Too early for me to commit ... but certainly interested :y :y :y

Too early for me to commit ... but certainly interested :y :y :y
Seeing as doing it this year was canned due to people already having arrangements and lack of leave etc, MikeDundee was trying to give as much notice as possible, so hopefully those who do want to go are able to keep the time available :y
-
Sounds interesting, needs to be a half term though! Can we price it up, so I know how much it will cost with ferry and camping costs then double that to cover fuel!

prices for site I think are on the website, and ferry prices are well published. I think you have to budget for that. If we can get enough peeps, we may be able to negotiate a group discount :).
For where I am, I reckon a tank each way fuel wise - about 200m to Dover, and about 100m to Brugge from Calais. On a run like that I would expect around 420-450m per tank from my 3.0l auto - much more economical in Europe, as people know how to drive, unlike the cocks on out motorways.
-
Remember.......we are looking at a group ferry booking, so hoping for a discount, will look into the discounts further, and will also be asking the campsite for a discount :y
-
sounds good .. although im in the final stage of buying my omega i would be interested in this. what sort of route are you thinking ?
-
It would be nice to have some dates sorted by the end of this year, most school hols were the last week in may this year :) just looking trough school bumpf for 2010
Should we ask an Administrator to be banker for deposits etc .etc.
-
We're interested :y :y
We'll de looking at one of the cheapo huts as it's not worth dragging everything along for a weekend!
I reckon on a couple of tanks of Fart Fuel for me, about 250 miles each way! Must confess I'll be wanting to fill up in Belgium before coming back as LPG is much cheaper! :y :y :y
-
well you can count me and mrs pj in .allways like a drive on the wild side .recon fuel should be about 2 quid a litre the way things are going?we will start filling the piggy bank up !
-
Count me and the missus in :y
Huts sound a great idea 8-)
-
are there enough huts to go round? I suppose i should look at the link really. :-)
-
doesnt say how many huts afaiks. But am interested in whos having the gypsey wagon. No really, have a look. :D ;D ;D ;D
Looks nice though. :-)
-
I did e-mail the site earlier this week asking how many trekkershuts etc were available................no reply :-X...so I assume the worst as I did already look here:
http://www.vweb.be/DOMEIN/brugescamping/schema3.php
the top line shows: #1 = only one hut, this is what I am assuming at this stage, and the same for the gypsy caravans, chalets etc...
-
bugger
-
Cant we share :D
-
I would say that the red spaces mean Full and the grey is that there is still space availible.
the #1 #2 ect is only for list no. so for your trip I would say its better to book early.
My family and I would love to come but we have a few miles more to drive, got to go to germany (got to Visit the Dragon mother in law) so we are going Hull Rotterdam again.
Have fun anyway and have a beer or four for us. :y
-
yeah defo looks good at brugges
-
Ok folks according to the threads posted we have potentially 13 members interested in this trip including myself, so the next bit is to firm up some potential dates, taking into account folks that have kids one of the dates proposed will be over the spring break and the other will not, I am only going to post up two proposed dates to keep it simple and straight forward. :y
-
Proposed dates for Europe 2010 :y
-
Voted... Do we know for certain how many huts etc they have?
-
Can't vote yet until SWTSMBO tells me where she's put next years school dates .. :(
-
just a note to show interest. Dates for us at that time of year are not overly important, so not voted yet. Probably go with most popular or whatever suits. Sounds like a laugh. :-)
-

School term dates are here:
http://www.alltheschools.com/wiltshire/term_dates.htm
you'll find I picked easter as generally all schools break up at easter around the same time :y
-
We'd be up for this too!!

I got all excited when I saw the heading "Europe". Thought you might be going somewhere sunny not somewhere as wet and cold as Britain.
Also thought I might be able to get some more cars "donated" for my sanctuary. The OOF elders could also use my car as a sort of demo car for teach ins as it has virtually one of each problem known to the forum. :)
Oh well there is always 2011......

Unfortunately you're a little far (for most people) for a weekend meet ::) ::)
-
Hello,
Im up for a camping weekend.
I am stationed in germany, so dont need a ferry crossing, be good to meet up with people. and gives the old beast a run out.
Gareth.
-
Providing everything works out Ok for us, we will definately join you lot over in Europe... After the meet is over, we will probably take a run down to see some friends of ours who live just down the road from the Nurburgring (Nordschliefe) and take the Mig round for a lap or two :y...As Bod & Britta have a large apartment for rent (that sleeps 8), we may be able to get a good rate for a couple of days...
Lets see if this gets off the ground first though.
Best wishes,
Rolfy & Jan

30/05/2010 ? Possible ferry price hikes, is this near a bank holiday weekend ?
-
I've just had another look at the dates and they don't seem to tie up with the days quoted :-/ :-/ :-/
Whenever it is I'll try to come anyway :y :y :y
As there seems to be a lack of cabins there are we now making it a camping trip? If so, we need to see how many pikey wagons are planning to go and see if we can get a good rate on them too :y :y

May probably have to be, I have not had a reply from the site regarding my last e-mail enquiry about the huts, so have to assume there is only one, I may need to give them a ring at some point soon.
-
Bit of a bummer, just had a look at the camping website again, had a look at their booking form and it says, ''we don't accept groups''. >:( >:(......Think we wil need to find another site :'(

That's a shame :'( :'(
-
Just received the e-mail below from memling campsite in Bruges the one that stated no group bookings, looks like we might be OK after all ::)
Dear Sir, Madame,
Thanks for your interest in our campsite. Could you fill in the reservation
form on our website?
www.brugescamping.be/
On our site you can also find useful information to prepare your holidays.
Friendly regards
Griet
So I will complete the form for the dates that the majority has went for and see what happens ::)
-

You guys should really make a little longer trip.
See mediterranean and adriatic coast.
I can bet you would enjoy it here.

Me too, this may go to the wire for me as the work situation is fluctuating. But then I can get a healthy discount on Norfolk Line without booking in advance so dont worry about me :y

I'm Getting a new job in Northern Italy and I'm taking the mig, well one of them. So I would be up for it :y

Thats a bit soon jim. Did you 'pick-up'? If so, congrats :y
-
Where Jim in northern Italy.
My sister lives in Friuli region in northern part near Austria.
Nice country but rains all the time.
But I guess you are probably used to that coming from England

My cousin is getting married in Trieste in the spring. Sounds like an excuse to stretch the MV6s legs. Might have to blindfold Mrs. KW somewhere in Switzerland / Austria and tell her that of course there are lots of hairpin bends and fumes from hot brake pads in the tunnel. [smiley=evil.gif]

Kevin you are lucky it is spring.
You should experience a windy day in Trieste during winter ;D
After that you wont be complaining on UK climate anymore ever

Verace Near Milan,
I've been to Split, I think the last time I was there was 2002, is the Metropolis Night Club still there?
No change in the weather then it rains all the time in Scotland too!!!

I'm taking the 3.0 elite, so i'm looking forward to the drive down there
-
I think Metropolis doesn't work anymore.
You went there?
-
I think Metropolis doesn't work anymore.
You went there?
Yes, I was working in Sarajevo BiH and we went to Trogir next to Split airport for the weekend and on the saturday night we went to the old city of Split and a few Pivo's later we ended up in the Metropolis, I went all over Croatia, Zagreb, Dubrovnik and the islands of Brac & Korcula and I really enjoyed it, it's a fantastic country :y
-
Glad you liked it Jim

Glad you liked it Jim
I'm planning to driver down to Dudrovnik, in the Summer :y
-
My advice Jim, stay off the highway in my country if you are not to tired and stick to the road next to sea (E65).
We have a great coastline and you can see it only going on normal road.
Plus you'll avoid traffic jams on highway during the summer which can be pretty awful

No problems Jim.
If you need any advice for the summer just ask

Looks like Jan & myself are out of this one....
Sadly one of our closest friends is having us as god parents to their new baby, and the christening is that weekend... Although the christening is in Kent, it would not be possible to do the arrangments & attend the meet in Brugge.
Hope yawl have a great time without us.
Many apologies.

I know this thread has went pretty quiet, mainly my fault due to the fact I have been debating on my dates for going to Thailand, did intend going over summer holidays for a change but SWMBO does'nt want to wait that long, which screws things up for me :-X, the dates most folk went for I would either just be getting back or still be over there.
So as it stands a couple of options, alll that want to go on the favoured dates proceed without me or propose other dates and start a new poll?
