Title: Cheapskate?
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 11 June 2009, 16:07:58
My MV6 had cambelt kit, water pump, aux belt, in early January - 5 months ago. Done about 10k miles on it, I think.

If changing the head gaskets, upon refitting, Would you re-use the rollers and get another 30k out of them?

Just wondering what you personally would do...

I'd re-use them, and the belt if I could be sure of fitting it the same way round.

cant think of a single reason why you would not re use. Apart from the belt direction as said.

im confused about this problem, (DOR) that is, i was always lead to belive that all belts , cam or aux were to be fitted with writing facing outwards :-?

as for renewing i would change it, for what its worth, although it would probilly be fine its always better to be safe than sorry
also in work situation i belive the warrenty would be affeted if anything were to happen

I'm 18-24 months or so into a cambelt kit, and will have the same decision soon, all though a bit easier....

I think for me, replace the kit, but dont bother with the water pump.

No need to change the belt or ancillaries.

It simply needs setting to the used belt tension
