Good tip that :y, would never have thought vinegar would remove rust ::).......wonder what else it removes.....
-
I wonder if it's worth cleaning the breathers out with vinegar (cheaper than carb cleaner) and you could always dunk the plenum in a bath of it but on 2nd thoughts it might destroy the eleccy gubbings at the back ;D

Try Coca Cola - even better reults!! Used to use it years ago to free off rusted nuts and bolts.

That will only work with the real coka cola and not the cheap stuff sorry.

thats pants! cheapo vinegar it is then!

I use white vinegar when maintaining my fishtank for it's acid cleaning properties. White vinegar has a higher concentration of acid so probably more effective for metal cleaning too.

Amazing. Vinegar is called Acetic Acid. For cheapskates you could always carry your parts to the local chippy, coat with their vinegar, wrap parts in old newspaper, walk home. Return every night until parts clean. No raw material costs.

Great Tip :y

Something I would never have thought of, great tip.. :y
-
It also works on a stainless steel saucepan that's been boiled dry :y

For painted parts try and get hold of some Milk Stone remover. Comes in powdered form from farm supply shops. It doesn't affect paintwork and turns rust solid exactly the same as Ku-rust does at about a 3rd of the cost :y
