.....will not be Falken 912s due to straght line accuracy, they seem to wonder around esp. on motorways in lane 1 and b roads.Which is most of my commute.
so what to try next? im thinking go up a price bracket or 2 for decent tires as any slight issues seem to really anoy me.
Was really happy with Dunlop sport max 2, i think they where, when i tried them, good straight line handeling, grip and mileage apparently, but realised they where a bit noisy when the falkens went back on.
Anyway, anyone know of a quiet equivelent to the above mentioned dunlops?
Thinking Continental Sports contact II....anyone got them? esp interested in road noise and straght line stability. would think grip and ware rates would be good at that price range. :o
cheers
Chris :)

Firstly, we call them tyres
Have SC2 or SC3 on the front of mine currently (can't remember which). Not bad on tramlining. My Dunlop SP9000s were good as well, but once towards end of useful life, started to tramline. Dunlops defo seem to be slightly noisier.
-
Dunlop 9090's on mine (and the previous car) and can't fault their grip levels in dry and wet, however they are a little noisy.
-
I liked the SC2's
SC3's on now, and I prefered the old ones

Got a pair of Goodyears here, 235 45 17 with 6mm of tread each tyre, £50 plus £10 postage of Ebay
Checked professionally and both perfectly safe

I have contis and can't fault them :y

Got a set on each of our mv6's, previously had the sc2's on mine
The only thing I can fault is wet grip is not quite as good as the old ones, and there does seem to be a tiny bit of tramlining on them, which I didnt get on the 2's
The tyres that were on the car tramlined a lot, and was a problem, these arent.
Car just doesnt feel quite as solid on them.
Don't know what I would go for next.

The one rather poor review i saw on the 2s suggested about 15k miles from them, which seems similar to my 912s at a guess from the current ware rate.
Maybe the 3s are more hard wareing at the expence of some wet grip perhaps??
May i ask re price, roughly?
-
Paid 378 on one occasion, 402 on the other, both plus the dreaded (from WIM)
-
Potenza ..
I use Adrenalin submodel..and very pleased with it..
very silent , soft..
and shocking cornering capabilites.. :o
-
Thanks Jim, not too bad a price then, although i suspect the value of the pound will change that.will expect to pay more....?
Cem, tell me/us more re bridgestones, certainly seem to get good reviews, like the sound of the grip but what about wear and straghtline stability?
I like a good wang but probably only 2 or 3 corners worth the name on my commute, so not top of my list of prioritys.....but on the other hand, nice have and reveiws seem to say they wear very well, albiet tested on smaller front wheel drive cars like golf gti and astra vxr, talk of 21k from front wheel drive. Not sure how true this is, and would expect more even ware over all 4 on an omega.
Edit for spelling, sorry cem, i scipped my education.

certainly talk the talk

After those tires miggy changed the behaviour on the road.. :o
Brake distances change..straightline is ok..
and really comfy.. Only I dont know their life period as they are new to me..
But I think there must be a trade off between the life and grip..And not cheap of course :-/
ps: cant find ware in the dictionary does that mean wear ?

Yes mate, wear, sorry. Post edited. :-[ ;D
Thanks for info. :y
Anyone else got these?
Or any other top end recommendations for that matter?
-
got Falken's on the front of mine, don't have an issue with them.
Sure its not your geometry?

Been checked 3 times in total. plus all the usual stuff....
-
got contis sport contact 2s on mine like them a lot :y
-
I've got Goodyear Eagle F1's on mine they have been faultless, performance is good in wet or dry endless grip downside they are a bit pricey

My preference is for the Dunlop SP9000/9090 - I reckon on my MV6 they hold on to the road just a little bit more.
-
I really think Toyo's suit the Omega :y
-
hmmmm, decisions decisions......
like the sound of the bridgestones
Dunlops are known to me but noisy, which will annoy all the time and for grip i will only use in 2 or 3 corners a day.
contis would be great but not sure on the wear rate on sc3?
Any indication of total mileage from the above brands?
Cem, re your Bridgestones, could you estimate your tires mileage?
For instance if your tread is worn half way to the wear markers and you have done 8000miles(or kilometers) that would possibly give 16000 miles/km from your tires.
Cheers :)

Unfortunately they are very new and upto now I've done maximum 700-800 kms..so cant estimate..
(I also must note that your roads are better than here
so tire life there will be longer)
I really recommend them..silent , comfy, grippy..And never seen or read any bad news about them..
and interesting :new model BMWs come with potenza RE050 :y
and imho Adrenalin suits streets better..
-
that tyres did the omega leave the factory with?
Doug
-
thanks cem, didnt realise they where that new. :-)
From what i gather on here, omega left the factory with Michelin primacy....afaik.
-
Think some had Dunlops D7 or Pirelli P6000.
Contis should work - German car (!!), german rubber.
-
when the last miggy was built there were no adrenalins around.. and re050 are definitely a very expensive tire for a factory fit ..

Equivalent tires with potenzas are pilot sport and pilot sport 2 for michelin.. eagle f1s (asymmetrics are the new model and proven to be very good)
are for goodyear..
but pilot primacies from experience, above average tires..
