Title: LPG... :)
Post by: Entwood on 30 June 2009, 22:23:23
Got back from a run to Cardiff returning daughter, filled up with LPG at the ASDA ... 46.9 p/ltr  :)

Compare that to my local petrol pump at 104.9 p/litre .. and the savings are now running at 50%  .. :)

20.704 p/mile petrol .. 10.279 p/mile LPG  :D :D :D :D :D :D

OK .. it's maybe not fair using the cheap gas/expensive petrol comparison .. but it makes me feel good.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Was that the Asda near Pentwyn Nige?

I sometimes gas up there - otherwise, I use BP on Tudor Rd - about 45ppl :)

Either way, it's running on fresh air, isn't it ;D

You should have popped in for a cuppa - only 5 mins away  :y

TBH I'm now paying 52.9ppl at my local stations but I don't really worry because the kit has paid for itself (nearly twice over!) now and i'm just enjoying the reduced running costs :y :y :y

It's the one where you come off the M4 at J30, head down to a roundabout and there's a big shopping centre ?? Back out, continue down the road and join Eastern Avenue ??

We use that as its an easy way to get to Birchgrove ..  :)

Search for LPG suppliers, you need to find a farmer with a LPG tank and a dispensing gun or a Calor, Listers outlet to open an account and save another 8p - 12p per litre.

reckon i got stitched today, out and about looking at tomtom lpg poi's for a clue and found one such supplier with a big tank and a gun and nothing but  a sign by the road. Started filling after a chat and realised theres no price advertised, so asked..... 57p a litre! Cheeky tinker.

Average seems to be between 50.9 and 49.9 IME.

Defo laughing gas. :-)

I think i'm lucky. There's a FloGas depot by junction 5 of the M6 that was selling at 40p a litre last time I went. It's got two pumps and rarely a que despite the taxis who love it.

It's 'only' about 4 miles away but unless I'm passing it, the time taken to travel there and back isn't always worth the saving compared to my local Texaco @49p!

Met a guy at flogas who gave me a map of lpg stores all over the country, included gas depots and conversion garages etc. as my tank is little, it's handy for planning a fill up!

hope your map is more up to date than some of the sat nav poi's. Of the 5 or 6 near my current location only 2 are current. 2 are closed down small garages. 1 is an installer and one was in the middle of a very large EMPTY field. Have had to use half a tank of petrol. OH MY GOD!!!

I need to find that place!

It's quite easy really, literally right by the motorway, on the road parallel to the M6 going towards British Car Auctions, and also the tip (household refuse disposal site, or whatever its called). They only do normal office hours but also Sat mornings now.

I found a link:
http://www.flogas.co.uk/gas-finder/midlands/west-midlands/flogas-direct-flogas-birmingham/

and a map:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=52.511402,-1.788583&daddr=&hl=en&geocode=&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=16&sll=52.511494,-1.78972&sspn=0.006438,0.016308&ie=UTF8&ll=52.510149,-1.792617&spn=0.006438,0.024483&z=16

Today I also found a place right by StarCity (the big casino/cinema/shops/restaurant thing you can see from spaghetti junction), called Birmingham Gas or something, that was charging 41p a litre. No idea of their opening hours, it's a funny arrangement with some big tanks, two pumps and a portacabin!  8-)

Here's another map:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=Unknown+road&hl=en&geocode=FXAgIQMdOqbj_w&mra=mr&sll=52.50738,-1.822925&sspn=0.05151,0.130463&ie=UTF8&ll=52.506165,-1.860166&spn=0.012878,0.048966&z=15

Hope these places are useful to brummies and travellers wanting to fill up with LPG en route to other cities!

 8-) nighty night

ah, yeah a bit more of trek from Worcester than may be regularly worth it! But useful if you're passing and need a fill up  :y
