I need to check out a suspect mis-fire and should start with a look down the plug wells.
My lead plug tops don't *seem* to have this clip mechanism to them but don't want to just pull off (although engine hot and I can't get a very good grip yet). Do they just pull up?
Surely I don't need to take all the clober off (EGR/ICV/Brake servo feeds) just for a look do I ??
Nothing (at all) removed so far.
2.5L v6 mini-f/l - slush-box as it happens.

Yep all that plus the cable tray if you want to look at both banks - there is a guide on here on how to change spark plugs which is pretty much what you will have to do to look inside plug wells - bit of a bar-steward I know. :y

Yep. Sorry, they're a pig for that. And everywhere you lean on in order to peer into the wells moves on you, or the bracket bends!!
-
Well thanks for that.
This isn't going to be straightforward with work & weekends at present. Might jump a step and see if I can spot anything amiss after a scuttle removal - rekon I could have a look without disabling the whole car for month!!.

You should have a little orange coloured doofer on one of the leads which aids their removal ;)

Yeah them doofer's are handy :y

I'm going to doofer my engine one day.
- still working/playing hard/away. Tools out weekend after next ...
Wonder if it something simple like an HT lead loose ????

may as well check dis pac and lead connections to it as best you can while you have the scuttle off. If you have stock leads and lost the doofer, i use a pair of hook nose long handle pliers to get under the shoulders of the "head" if you know what i mean. Point being they will take "some" firm handeling and do just pull straight up. Only need to move the cable tray enough to give access to whatever tool you use ime, which means it does not have to come right out of the way, just makes it a fidel.

Thanks. Yes, aim to check out the dis pack end of the leads, ensure hbv is dry etc. Anything else worth noting with just the skuttle off?
Two busy/away weekends coming up so has to wait for now.
