Hi,
I have always kept detailed records of my fuel consumption (useful for calculating breakeven after lpg conversion!) and have noticed an odd cyclic variation I can't explain.
The car is an Omega estate 2.0cdx petrol manual but I also found a similar consumption on my Carlton estate 2.0 petrol.
I have a sinusoidal variation with a period of about 28kmiles which equates to about 14 months with the consumption varying by over 2mpg (avg about 29).
I can't tie this down to anything, especially as it is quite such an obvious sinusoidal curve. It certainly doesn't match tyre changes and with a period of 14 months it doesn't really match the weather either.
I appear to be getting a similar pattern after lpg conversion but it is proving more difficult to calculate of course.
Any ideas/comments?
Regards.

erm... yeah :o ;D

Stopped monitoring my consumption when I got a Range Rover ::) ::) ::)
Now I just fill it up when it's thirsty, although running fart juice makes it more bearable :y :y

'Get a life' seems appropriate ::)

i put petrol in it, and it takes me places, job done! :D

While I agree the OP seems to be taking the monitoring of fuel consumption to a whole new level - let's refrain from making rude comments at the guy :y
That said, I must agree with the sentiments already expressed - an Omega (especially 2.0, which is the most thirsty model), is not a car to own, if you're worried about Miles Per Gallon... :y

OK guys, I've got a thick skin :)
I'm just natuarally curious about such things, which I guess comes from working in a scientific field.
The consumption isn't great but it's damned comfortable!
Regards.

Sorry buddy, just never come across anyone who's analysed their fuel consumption in that much detail before. A lot of us are trying to get their cars to run at all ;D
