Evening All
My wife has a real piece of junk looking Audi 80 TDi Estate (93/L). Honestly, someone poured paint stripper down one side and the previous owner got a spray can and went mad, its one of those cars that would put you off buying a house in my street.
Thing is, its brilliant!!!! I put £12 of diesel in it and got 215 miles, it runs on a mixture of fresh air, diesel droplets and fairys tears. It only cost me £200 and has sailed through two MOT's so far without even an advisory.
Reason its so economical is because its gutless. I don't mean 90bhp gutless I mean beaten away from the lights by lorrys gutless. I once timed the 0-60 and it was 32+ seconds.
I have checked for leaks, I have replaced the turbo with a known working S/H one, I have stripped the inlet manifold off it and cleared all the gunk out (common problem apparently) but no matter what I do, I take it for a test drive and that huge wave of disappointment that you can only get when youve spent hours grazing knuckles for no reason fills my body.
I have read on another forum something about the third injector maybe being faulty but even second hand they go for over £100 so unless im sure, I don't want to go down that route!
Starting with free things, what can it be?
Thanks for any help

32+ seconds? That is a joke? Surely? :o
-
on these, its common for the small rubber pipes to block or become porous. This often results in the ecu disabling the turbo (by permenently activating the wastegate). So that would be my first check
-
I'll check that in the morning, thanks Jaime.
And no, 32+ is the honest truth. Tops out about 75-80 but takes most of the A1/M to get there in the first place.

Should have bargained that into the sale of the tractor shouldn't I ;D
I have an Ebay lead and a 2+2 adaptor (which is currently lost) but I could never get them to work on my Vista laptop, although saying that I tried the inlaws XP laptop with much the same results. :-/

You sure? That's about 85 mpg !! ;D
-
got 2 or 3 of them before, they very good cars , cheap for service, 50-60 MPG easy. never had any problems, was faster then 32sec. to 60, top speed was 110mph
still have some parts here if you need any

Yeah, as much as I don't like them (spent too much of my life under them ;D), I can't argue with the economy of that 1.9 diesel they use, easy 50+, even with me driving :o

Have you got a MAF or set of injectors? (number 3 being the all important one)
Cheers
Wayne
And yes, the way my wife drives it probably is close to 80MPG ;D
