Post by: HolyCount on 28 August 2009, 18:39:35
Wife has taken a liking to Astras and I fancy a convertible ... what should I be looking for in these (common faults, must haves, etc) ???

Clutch judders from cold can be a main issue.
Get one under warranty if your after a MK5.

The Mk3 is a nice drive, well the 2.0 is and are at rock bottom prices so you get alot of car for your money and cheap to run :y

Astra G is the sweet spot.

Roof is not to bad unless your silly with it.

No real issues on them, pretty well screwed together.

Boot tends to fill with water on the newer ones... Sister had one that leaked from day 1 and no matter what Vauxhall did they couldn't cure it :o :o :o

Type "Astra Burning Oil" into google, and then see what you think  ;D

The 1.6 seems pretty well documented as one which burns oil (I'm about to do my piston rings) - but generally, they are good.

Clutch judder from cold, as said - but otherwise no real issues.

I like my Astra G with Factory gas  :y
