Title: Couple of questions
Post by: Ziad on 16 September 2009, 03:26:36
Guys, I would appreciate a little light here ... These may be daft questions, but still would love if someone would bring some answers  :y

I have a facelift 3.0 V6 mig

Q1: I have a buzzing sound with the ignition on which stops after about 10 - 15 seconds. I always assumed that to be self leveling suspension pump.

I was looking at the following guide ( http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1250308202 ), and I could not find the sensor in question. Why would I have the buzzing sound? Is the setup different for a 2000 v6 (as compared to the 3.2 chrisgixer has)?

Q2. My rear shock absorbers have part no 90575401 written on them. I can find any reference of these in the Opel EPC. Would anyone know if these are the self leveling shocks?

Thanks  :y

Ref Q1 I think that would sound about right , there is also i think a air pump that help to warm up the cars  on a start up 1st thing on the 3.0. this also has a sound to it when it kicks in 10-15 sec. which is not in the 3.2 . hope that helps.

self level only on Elites. Not sure on your trim level but looking at your pics in the gallery they look like mv6 wheels? If the car is also mv6 then it wont have self level.

3.0 has secondary air pump i beleive as Steve says. Most likely to be the noise you can hear. Unplug it, its of no use.

If you want to hear what self level pump sounds like its on the pedal trick video in the back ground, near the end, in "paper clip test" in maintenance section. Hth

re shocks, also depends on cars trim level. If it is mv6 then would think they are "lowered sports chassis, not police, armoured vehicle or hurse" dont know the number. Not self level, which is good as sl are expensive and dont give as good a ride.

Thanks for the information Chris and Steve.

As you said Chris, it's an MV6, so no SL.  :D
So, how do I go about unplugging the useless secondary air pump then?

EDIT:

Just had a look at the pedal trick test, as you said, the sound i hear is definitely different from the one heard in your car. So, no SL pump in mine  :D

sai air pump tends to run for 30-45s

plug is on pump itself, mounted just in front of wheel, below battery

Beleive All Elites have self level suspension. But not looked at one older than 98 so def an assumption.

Do ALL Elites have self level? Anyone?
