Title: MV6 tyres.
Post by: amigov6 on 16 September 2009, 19:13:18
I posted the question a while back regarding Goodyear eagle F1's which are good but top price can be £180 a corner, the police still use them on pursuit vehicles. Upshot is i've found new ones locally for £90 a corner + vat. They are GOOD tyres.
I blame Broocie (Hotel21 admin) who i bought the Beastie from over a year ago, but given the time & money i've put into the car it's too late to fit budget tyres now so the switch card is bracing itself for a proper kicking!!!!! 8-)

Hi Steve. Grip is spot on for nearly 2 tonne of car if driving playfully. More sedate drivers may say expensive tyres are not needed if driving gently but there's always stopping distance to consider.
Even at 30mph a good tyre will stop you that bit quicker if a child runs into the road & you have to anchor up quick. That extra few quid could make a difference. :o

The tyres on the car can mean the difference between knocking someone over and a near miss.
Even if you drive like a poofter i dont think cheapo tyres are a good idea.
That said i am not sure there are too may of us who relish the thought of 200 quid a tyre so there has got to be something good and reliable cheaper than that
at the very least buy a brand you have at least heard of

Doug

also been wondering what to put on my mv6... atm all wheels have different tyres on them!.. but my front 2 are needing changed soon, only problem is that im skint! :(

i have falken fk452's on the leon and im surprised by them, as technically theyre a "budget" tyre. Driving like a hooligan with 260bhp going to the front wheels and they havent let me down - both in wet and the dry :y

I like the sound of them, and the pice is not too bad in my opinion. Where did you get them?

Broughton, just outside Scunny. I've driven Migs with various tyres but since buying this one with the F1's i'm hooked.
They really hang on & in my opinion are worth a few more pennies. 8-)

I paid £450 for 4 fitted through mytyres.com for Goodyear F1 Asymetrics (235/45 17), which i thought was a decent price. Tyres were shipped from Germany to a local installer, was completely painless and i think the tyres are excellent, esp in the wet.

There was a tyre review i posted from EVO mag that rated them number 1 in a test, i can dig it out if you like.

Haven't trusted Goodyears since i had 2 blow outs on the N1 towards Paris.Ever since then used Continental ContiSport Contact 3 before them used ContiSport Contact 2(F245x40R17,R245x45R17)Wet weather and braking can't fault. They warm up quick but with the mileage i do a year(50-60k) they don't last long .Tried Michelins(wore out to fast),Pirelli's(not as good as they used to be) .
I know the ContiSport Contact 3 cost a packet to buy and you have to play around with the pressures a bit but well worth it :y
