Title: "test drive" true story ,,,,,,,,,,
Post by: I_want_an_Omega on 08 October 2009, 17:58:46
Hi,

I didn't want to hijack the post about the Monaro test drive earlier - but here is a similar true story.

A couple of years ago my boss got a new 535d. When it was only a couple of weeks old it got a supermarket ding so into the bodyshop for repairs.

He got an unexpected call from the bodyshop manager only a few hours after the car was taken in. It seems that 2 young vehicle valetters had decided off their own back to take the car "to the shops" at lunchtime and in the process totalled the car. Needless to say they got sacked, but by all accounts were lucky to walk away with only superficial airbag burns. My boss had to wait another 3 months for another car ........

My mate has a 56 plate 535d. Two words. 'BALLISTIC MISSILE'.

Usually not a BMW fan, but that is one hell of a motor, eats his old 328 coupe for breakfast and still returns 40+mpg.

The thing is... how much does this sort of thing go on? It will make me think twice before leaving my car with ANYONE in future! :(

A mate at work, who had a Supra - not quite the same I know, but still a very nice car  ;) - used to stick a 'Post-it' note on his dash with the current odometer reading. Simple but effective.  :y  :y

Having been a car mechanic for 5 years, from the age of 17 onwards, I can honestly say, hand on heart, I never ever ever ragged a customers car.

I did work in a Skoda dealers, pre VW days, but im sure thats nothing to do with it :y :y
