Guys, I'd like to have your opinion please.
As some of you already know, I have a 2006 (actually it's the 2007 model) E93 330 beemer. I now kind of fancy something else (specially after TB's comments about rag top although this is a hard top convertible and the beemer being meant for hairdressers and gays :D :P ). Anyway, I'm now considering to get a Porsche, and I think the 2009 Cayman S looks interesting. What do you say? Do I keep the beemer or do I go the Porsche way? :-/

The Porsche should cut through the desert sand storms easier than the beemer Ziad! ;D :y

It's a real dilemma ... there are so many choices for sports cars around that I now do not know what to do. There's now a newish Aston Martin DB7 (2002 - 15K kilometers on the clock) for sale! :D

Would an Aston be able to handle the desert??? I thought they were a bit shoddy to be honest, by far the best looking motor you've mentioned so far though!!!!!
-
The Porsche Gayman?
I think the name says it all really.
But seriously, a chap at work bought one brand new, had it 6 months, hated it, flogged it back to the dealers for a 4k loss, and now drives a 1990 944S2 with 135k on the clock and loves it!
I've got to be honest, I have driven both of his Porsches, and I do prefer the 944.
The Gayman leaves you feeling cold, and paranoid that it would be damaged by some little oik.
The 944 feels a lot more solid and durable.
Plus more stable and sure footed when giving it some stick.
Get a 911 Carerra4S!
Can't fault that in any way whatsoever.
(apart from the fact I cant afford one) :'(

I think they do get along well here in Bahrain though as i've seen quite a few of them in the middle east. But, be it Aston Martin or Porsche, they'll essentially be used for the week end only and then again, when there are no sand storms ;)

I cant afford one too ... there's too big a difference in the price :'( I'll try to get a second hand 911 Turbo, maybe from a totally different era ::) :D :P

I would be into the Cayman as - to me - it's more of a practical everyday ride.
The more exotic fare such as the 911, whilst up to the job, doesn't strike me as something you would want to use on an everyday/regular basis.
-
Why not try one of these ? http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-shelby-gt500-convertible.html thats got some grunt ;)
-
I take it the credit crunch hasn't hit you over there yet

I agree with you that it's got some grunt mate, but these are common round here, and I don't particularly like the new shape ;) ... so, i guess, Porsche it may be if they give me a good offer :y

Which one are you talking about mate ::)
Well, the credit crunch has not hit us that hard, but the prices for new cars have come down a little bit ... I'm a hard working guy, working my ass off and wants to treat old me a little bit while i can still afford it ::) :P ;)

I agree totally Z. I really like that Cayman, and am under some negotiation with the agent here ... if he agrees to the price i've proposed, i'll get it ;) :y

Hopefully Z. Will indeed post the results (should they be favorable!). You know, I havent until today got the time to record the engine roar of that v8 armada as promised. It's not even in the garage actually :D sent it for service 2 weeks ago and havent collected it yet ::) the dealer's been bugging me to come down and collect the car since last week and now he's threatened to charge me for storage fees ::) :P who gives a damn about storage anyway ::) the rather driver's gone on vacation for a month, and i'm working like crazy at the moment, reason for the armada still being there :-[

Try the 3Lt XF Diesel. I had the 2.7 and that was quick, the 3.0 is 33% more powerful and is cleaner too. 0-60 in around 6 sec iirc, plus it's a dream to drive :y
Just be careful not to put petrol in it, you wont beleive its a deisel sometimes :y
-

Well try the XFR then, from those I know who have tried it say that it handles superbly and goes like poo off of a shovel!

Might as well have a look at that, but was looking for something a little bit more exclusive. The Jag dealership in here is shite :-/

Quite rightly said cem. Actually, i was just checking prices. For these 55 Euros, you could get a NEW 335i convertible in Bahrain mate, and still have a little bit left!!!!

Dude, that's what I wanted to get. The GT-R (r34) of course, not the new crap one. But unfortunately, it's not allowed here in Bahrain since it can be so easily modified :-/ :'(
