Title: Lotus Omega?
Post by: Alex W on 25 October 2009, 13:13:40
Just seen an Opel badged "Lotus Omega" for sale in a Classic Car magaziine. Its 1997, they want £30k for it. (I'm not considering buying it)

I've never heard of a Lotus Omega. anyone got any information about it?

They were all Lotus Omegas - just badged Carlton for UK, as all Carltons were.
They arrived at Hethel as Omegas, so Lotus simply carried that on.

Same spec except rhd/lhd.

Carltons in euroland are also know as Omega's .I found out lately there was only 6 Lotus Omega's B made for racing.Out of 6 there are only 2 left. One now at it's new home in Switzerland due to a mate of mine buying one from a mad German Baron collector.

Be odd to be a 97, thought they only made them for a couple of years around 90 to 93

I have heard this too.

Lucky person who ever got it!

Presume the original poster was aware of the Lotus Carlton?

Yep, well aware of the Carlton, didn't know that they were called Omega on the continent tho'. Every day is a schoolday, as my daughter used to say.

UK Carlton is the Omega A - UK Omega is the Omega B.
No such thing as Omega C, even though Irmscher and LMF call the facelift that sometimes! If that was the case, uk Omega would be the C cos the Carlton had a facelift too.
Confused?
Hell, I am!!!

The Omega A (Facelift Carlton), was so called as the previous model was the Opel Rekord and the original Vx Carlton.

There isn't much information about them as only 6 were built for racing and were all owned by Vx/opel
