Title: German 2.5 elite
Post by: des.allen on 28 October 2009, 18:19:35
Hi, I have recently purchased a 1999 v6 elite and evrything under bonnet is in german, I was wondering if this was made for the german market and if so are there are any differences to the ones for the british market. Thanks for your time.

It might need a service, a new fuel filter can sometimes have a dramatic effect on performance. have you checked to see if it has any fault codes stored?

The light was on when i got it but garage i know found that the icv had been disconnected? the light is now out!
I was told it was bought from another oldish couple in stoke so i'm presuming it has not been unleashed to its full potential.
It handles better than any omega i've had no wandering or nothing but it just feels too stiff, if thats the right word

Oh no they dont, what's in the doors are the sensors to activate the side airbags which are in the seats.

A town called Russlesheim to be precise, in between Frankfurt and Weisbaden. It was bombed very heavily by the RAF in WW2.

Did you know that ALL V6's for the Omega were actually British made. They had a new engine plant built at Ellesmere port specifically for the V6 which came out in 1993 in the Cavalier. The 4cyl engines could have been made at a number of locations including Austria, Brasil or even Australia.

Just thought that you would to know this Omega trivia.

It was probably someone in the factory being lazy, making a mistake or even running out of English stickers.

I had a brand new Cavalier Turbo once that had LHD headlights fitted for some reason. I had the car a week before driving it in the dark and then straight back to the dealers who couldn't believe it.

If the logbook says new by manufacturer/importer then it will be.

The other giveaway about the market place the car was destined for would be the lanuage that the MID comes up in. I guess yours is in English?

Sure is,  thanks for the info, as i should have said in op i wondered if it had been made for the german market and then imported and converted to rhd at some stage in its life, just out of interest do you happen to know what colour the bulbs in the climate control should be? mine are blue, have these been changed?  thanks

I really don't know as my car only has a/c.

The bulbs are cheap enough, so I'd get a complete new set from your local Vx dealership and replace the lot TBH.

Taking that panel off is not something that I'd want to do again in a hurry. >:(
