Title: Is this the Omega sump plug?
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 31 October 2009, 14:27:31
Hi Guys

Please just confirm, that this is definately the sump plug, that has been welded up on the Omega?

Nigel is naturally sure the garage wouldn't do such a poor job, and that this may be a GM modification.

Have I pictured something other than the sump plug? (Admittedly, I wasn't under there for long)

Please clarify:

tend to agree james.

Maybe it was spinning it its boss, like they do from what i read on here, and they just welded it up as a bodge?

Surely its a new sump, what ever the reason?

Looks right place for a v6 sump plug - towards back of sump, central, and on the flat part.

What everyone else has said.

It obviously stripped and unlike yourself they chose to bodge it up ;)

I have never seen a sump on an engine, and the cross members around it, so rusty as in that example!!

Are you all sure that is actually an engine sump, or a fuel tank?!! :D :D ;) ;)

What a shite job!

The area around the sump plug is nicely rusted as they have ground it back to weld and then not bothered to paint it!

The better repair would have been to remove the sump base, clean it up and braise it.
