Hello all, I'll try my best to make sure I don't offend anyone with my sayings.
I'm in need of some information pertaining to the GM L81/X30XE engine design, as well as any known performance parts, whether in Europe, or in America, if anyone knows anything.
My friend and I decided we were going to take on this engine project with this particular engine, and... well... we're absolutely stuck for the main part of the job... the camshafts. Does anyone here know the camshaft specifications? Pistons/Rods do not pose a problem, I can measure and order those freely. I just don't want to mess with camshaft orders until I'm 110% sure I have the correct STOCK specifications to give to my machinist to tweak with to his heart's content.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!!
Thank you!

I believe Marks DTM Calib measured a set of cams recently. I'm sure he'll be along with the results if so.
Piper cams do a "fast road" cam for this engine in the UK and there's some info. on their web site. Maybe it'll be of use. : http://www.pipercams.co.uk/pipercams/www/product.php?pid=OPV6BP270A
This all assumes that the US models had the same cams as the UK models, of course.

How do they re-profile cams? Surly metal needs to be added somehow to make the lobes bigger? :-/ :-?

Not necessarily. You can grind material off the base circle to make the lobe taller and, especially on a DOHC per bank engine, the timing is trivial to change.
